Area 5: The Center Hedge / Herb Garden
May 04: We finally moved everything around. This bed was on it's way to being empty when my mother dropped a small bunch of strawberry plants in my lap. Not wanting to waste the plants, I installed them into this bed. The soil here is rich and I expect I could maintain the berries for a few years at least. At least they won't cause the big holes in the hedge that the other plants were.
The Lemon Balm is still shown because there is currently still a little in there, and I expect it will be back at full strength in a couple days. I just haven't found a good place for it yet.

Initial entry:This has been my wife's herb garden for the last couple years. The plants have done well in most cases. The Oregano, Sage, and Lemon balm can't be stopped now, but the Yarrow never seemed to really take. The Salad Burnet has been moved to the Garage Bed, and something was put in its place but I'm not sure what yet.
We have decided to move all of the herbs to the Patio Bed (Area 6). We're hoping to achieve more of a "Kitchen Garden" feeling with it, and it will also save the hedge in this bed. We noticed that the hedge has aquired some nice openings wherever there were tall herbs blocking the sunlight. To prevent this we will be shifting to lower plantings in this bed in a little while. Stay tuned.
