Some Enchanted Evening
-Rogers and Hammerstein
Designer's Notes:
There is no actual text for “Some Enchanted
Evening”. It is simply a collection of some of Rogers and Hammerstein’s
best-loved songs. However, to add a
little interest to the evening, using only action and props, no dialogue,
Michael Serrechia, created a subtext story.
As the show begins we seem to have actually arrived as the crew is
preparing for the show. The stage
manager receives a call informing her that one of the singers cannot make
tonight’s performance. In
desperation, she drafts one of the crew to fill the position. As show time approaches, she continues to receive calls from
each of the cast members and slowly the cast is completely replaced by the crew
on stage. In Act II, the brave
crew, having completed the sets, props and costumes, now comes on to perform the
show.
