Camelot

- Lerner/Loewe

Designer's Notes: When Joel first started talking to me about this production he had already formed the idea that this would not be your typical vision of Camelot. He wanted to emphasize the fact that it is set in the dark ages. I time when the world was very scary and when Arthur's vision of a world ruled by law instead of battle was a visionary dream. Randall gave us a dark forest surrounding the warmth of the central pedestal representing both the safety of Camelot as well as being symbolic of the round table. In keeping with this idea, I emphasized the darkness and shadows, especially in the upstage forest area. Everything was lit in dappled light with deep shadows. (Note: Most of the show was initially lit with a heavy haze helping to create a sense of mystery and fear, however at the time these pictures where taken, the hazer was malfunctioning and so there was no haze available.)
