                     Daniel D Tompkins Daniel was born June 21, l774 to Jonathan Griffin Tompkins and Sarah Hyatt. He was tenth of 13 children. He married Hannah Minthorne in 1798. He attended Columbia Univ. There was another student named Daniel Tompkins so he added D. to avoid confusion. He went on to become a New York Supreme Court justice, Governor, and Vice-President of U.S. He was quite a character. He was born on 21 June 1774 at White Plains, Westchester, NY. He was the son of Jonathan Griffin Tompkins and Sarah Hyatt. Daniel D Tompkins married Hannah Minthorne, daughter of Mangle Minthorne, on 24 February 1798.1 Daniel D Tompkins died on 11 June 1825 at age 50.

                       Samuel Tompkins One of the original settlers of Bridgewater, MA. Captain Myles Standish, John Alden and others were responsible for equally dividing the land to the settlers (Bridgewater is west of Plymouth). Original group consisted of about sixty.

                  Mitchell says his will dated 1653 gives all his lands to Francis Cary, who was brought up by and lived with Samuel and Lettice. In 1840 Francis Cary was still living on the same lands inherited by his great-great grandfather. Will also mentions
                  his brother, John Tomkins, cousins Mary Foster and Elizabeth White, and Hannah Dogget.

                  Research: Robert A. Tompkins, on p. 9 of his 1942 genealogy, indicates Samuel lived first at Duxbury, MA, then Milford, CT, then Bridgewater, MA.

                  Savage, James, Genealogical Dictionary, p. 311, lists him as grantee of Bridgewater, MA; also says his wife's brother probably Edward Foster of Scituate, MA, another one of the grantees of Bridgewater.

George Clinton Rouse married Martha Tompkins on 20 May 1826 at St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Bellville, Hastings, Ontario, Canada.2 George Clinton Rouse married Hannah Jones on 10 March 1846 at Brown County, IL. George Clinton Rouse appeared on the census of 17 August 1850 at Brown County, Illinois.3 He died on 29 October 1853 at Ontario Township, Knox, Illinois, at age 54. He was buried on 29 October 1853 at Ontario Cemetery, Ontario Township, Knox Co., Illinois; is buried next to a Wilmot family and a Wilson wife. He is the only Rouse in the Ontario Cemetery.4

                                                                      His son, Samuel, was one of the early pioneers of Bridgewater, so Ralph moved
                                                                      there in his old age to be near Samuel's family, according to Pope.

                                                                      Ralph was one of the pioneer settlers of Milford, Connecticut.
