Austin Rouse was Doctor. Austin Rouse, a native of Norwich, son of Judge Casper Rouse, came in soon after Dr. Packer, with whom he practiced for some time. He married here Jane E., daughter of Erastus Perkins, who was born May 2, 1806, and died in Scranton, Penn., with a daughter who was living there, Sept. 28, 1870. Dr. Rouse was a conscientious man and stood high in his profession. He practiced here till his death, August 27, 1866, aged 70. Dr. Rouse had three daughters, Maggie, who married Adolphus Bennett, and is living in Philadelphia; Louisa, who married James A. Clarke, son of Dr. Samuel R. Clarke, and is living in Georgia; and Mary, who married Henry Roone, and is living in New York.1 He was born circa 1796. He was the son of Casper Mead Rouse and Phebe Austin. Austin Rouse married Jane E Perkins in 1825. Austin Rouse died on 27 August 1866.

Ernest Fenstemaker killed a woman in 1937, according to oral history, whom he had contracted a Veneral Disease from. While running from authorities, he broke into the Bachelor home to steal money. He was walked in on by the woman of the home and he killed her. Was convicted of murder and sent to Lansing prison for about 30 years. Parolled in 1970 when he was about 70 years old. His social security number was 509-12-9117. He was born on 13 June 1913.1 He was the son of Guy Wheaton Fenstemaker and Effie May Holland. Ernest Fenstemaker died in January 1978 at age 64.1 He was buried on 14 April 1980 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Section 12, Grave 4, Row D, Marker: 1978-1979 #3415, Lawrence, Douglas, Kansas, USA. He had donated his body to the KU Medical Center and was cremated then buried.2
