Luke Skywalker is born just after the end of the Clone Wars. He is seperated from his mother and sister, and taken to Tatooine by Ben Kenobi, to be looked after by Owen and Beru Lars (Episode III - film)

Luke and his friend Windy are attacked by a krayt dragon in the Jundland Wastes. They are saved by Ben Kenobi, who returns Luke home. However, Kenobi is shooed away by Owen, and told never to return (Luke Skywalker's Walkabout - comic)

Luke participates in a skyhopper race against Fixer, which he wins by piloting through the 'stone needle', though he damages the skyhopper in the process (SW Radio Drama)

After noticing a space battle above Tatooine, Luke is made to clean up two droids purchased by Owen. One of the droids, R2-D2, is carrying a message for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and escapes after getting Luke to remove his restraining bolt. Luke gives chase, and meets Obi-Wan - Ben - Kenobi. Eventually, they wind up in Mos Eisley after Luke's aunt and uncle are killed by the Empire. They fly to Alderaan to deliver the Death Star plans inside R2-D2 to Bail Organa, but the planet has been destroyed. Luke, Ben, Han Solo, Chewbacca and the droids are captured by the Death Star, where they manage to rescue Leia Organa. Ben duels Darth Vader, and sacrifices himself to allow Luke to escape. They fly to Yavin 4, where the Rebels find a weakness in the Death Star through the plans. Soon Luke is reunited with his old friend Biggs Darklighter, just before he takes part in the attack on the Death Star. Though Biggs is killed in the fight, Luke destroys the battle station - with help from the disembodied voice of Ben. Luke, Han and Chewbacca are rewarded in a ceremony on Yavin (A New Hope - film)

As Luke and the Rebels evacuate Yavin IV and search for a new base, Darth Vader learns the identity of the man who destroyed the Death Star. He becomes obsessed with finding his son. After Luke crashes on the planet, the Rebels choose Hoth as their new base (Marvel/Classic Star Wars comics)

Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia crash on Mimban, where they find the Kaibuur crystal...and Darth Vader. Luke wounds the Dark Lord, and the twins escape (Splinter of the Minds Eye -novel)

After Luke sights an Imperial probe droid on Hoth, the Rebels at Echo Base prepare for evacuation. Luke leads Rogue Squadron against the Imperial ground assault, but they cannot stop the Rebel shield generator from being destroyed. Luke escapes Hoth, but heads to Dagobah rather than the Rebel meeting point, after witnessing a vision of Ben Kenobi instructing him to find Yoda. The little Jedi Masters begins Luke's Jedi training, but Skywalker cuts it short to save his friends on Bespin. There, Luke battles Darth Vader, who reveals he is Luke's father! Choosing to fall to his death rather than join the Sith, Luke ends up hanging onto a weather vane below Cloud City. He is rescued, and given a bionic hand to replace the one lost in the duel with Vader (The Empire Strikes Back - film)

Luke and his friends attempt to rescue Han Solo from Boba Fett on Gall, but are forced to flee. He later returns to Tatooine and constructs a new lightsaber, before heading to Coruscant to rescue Leia from Prince Xizor. During this time, he declares himself a Jedi Knight (Shadows of the Empire - novel)

Luke enters Jabba's palace to free Han Solo, but after a battle with Jabba's rancor, he and his friends are sentanced to death above the Pit of Carkoon. However, Luke frees his friends and battles Jabba's henchmen. They escape Tatooine, but Luke visits Dagobah for advice from Yoda. The 900 year old Yoda dies, but Ben Kenobi tells Luke that Leia is his sister. He then joins the Rebel fleet during preperations to attack the second Death Star. On Endor's moon, Luke allows himself to be captured, and is brought before the Emperor. A duel between Luke and Vader ensues, but this time Luke beats his father. However, the Emperor attacks him with Force lightning when Luke refuses to join him. In a final attempt to redeem himself, Vader saves his son by killing the Emperor...though Vader later dies from the injuries caused by the Force lightning. Luke takes his father's armour back to Endor, and burns ito n a funeral pyre before joining in the celebrations (Return of the Jedi - film)

Though he is still recovering from the Emperor's attack the day after the Battle of Endor, Luke heads to Bakura with the Rebels after a distress call was intercepted by Wedge Antilles. There, he finds a Force-sensitive boy named Dev Sibwarra, under the influence of the Ssi-Ruuk invaders, though Dev dies before Luke can save him (Truce at Bakura - novel)

Luke travels to Dathomir and meets the planet's Force witches. He repels an attack by Warlord Zsinj by destroying an orbital nightcloak the Imperial was using to threaten Dathomir (The Courtship of Princess Leia - novel)

As Grand Admiral Thrawn attacks the New Republic, Luke is captured on Myrkr and meets Mara Jade. He escapes, and meets Joruus C'baoth, who tries to turn him to the dark side. Skywalkers escapes with the help of Mara Jade, and they both rescue Talon Karrde from Thrawn, before taking part in the failed battle to capture the Katana fleet. Luke later battles a cloned version of himself as well as C'baoth on Wayland. He kills the clone, and Mara destroys C'baoth (The Thrawn Trilogy - novels)

When Palpatine returns in the form of a clone, Luke allows himself to be corrupted by the dark side in order to destroy the Empire from within. However, he falls too far, and it takes Leia's power to bring him back. Together, they destroy the clone (Dark Empire - comic) Luke, now considering himself a Jedi Master, turns Kam Soulsar from the dark side, allowing him to join his Jedi initiates on Yavin IV. Luke later faces Palpatine again, in his last clone body, as the New Republic attacks Byss. He also finds a race of primitive Force-wielders on Ossus (Dark Empire II - comic) After the final destruction of Palpatine, Luke faces the prospect of rebuilding the Jedi Knights from scratch (Empire's End - comic)

Luke sets out to find more Force-sensitive beings, and also establishes a Jedi Academy on Yavin IV (Jedi Search - novel) Luke's new Jedi Academy comes under attack from the spirit of Exar Kun. Kyp Durron is corrupted by the Sith Lord, and battles Luke atop the Academy. With Kun's help, Kyp sends Luke in to a deathly comatose state (Dark Apprentice - novel) Luke's Jedi students protect their helpless Master from more attacks by Exar Kun, and eventually destroy his spirit by teaming up against him. As Kun's shade disappears, Luke's spirit returns. He later helps in the battle against Admiral Daala (Champions of the Force - novel)

Luke and his students recieve horrifying visions of doom through the Force, and go to check it out. However, Luke is captured and taken aboard the Eye of Palpatine. Luke meets the spirit of Callista. The Eye is destroyed, and Callista is given a new body thanks to Cray Mingla, so that she can be with Luke (Children of the Jedi - novel)

Luke and Mara reestablish a Jedi Temple on Coruscant after learning more about the old Jedi Order
