THE FORCE
The Force is an energy field that provides Jedi with their power. Microscopic life-forms residing inside all living cells communicate to Force-adepts, telling them the will of the Force. Without these life-forms, called midi-chlorians, life could not exist; without the Force, there is no life.
Though every living thing has a certain number of midi-chlorians residing in their cells, only a few are able to listen to the midi-chlorians, and carry out their will. It was Jedi Knight Kieran Halcyon - Corran Horn in reality - who considered that every being may be in tune with the Force just enough to be aware, but only those who let the Force flow through them could achieve the power of a Jedi. Though this power was beyond anything else in the universe, the Force was primarily used for knowledge and defence by the Jedi Knights. They were able to pick up, move, push and pull objects with their minds, and could make themselves heal or rest quickly using the Force. More advanced forms provided greater results, but the path to achieving them was one fraught with danger. The ability to cloud minds, alter judgements or even project illusions was considered by many to be a step towards the dark side. As the Jedi used the Force non-aggressively, the Dark Lords of the Sith wielded their power with the intent of destruction. They used the Force to sway others down the dark path, conjure up deadly Force storms or unleash terrifying bursts of Force lightning. Many refuse to believe that these powers are part of the Force which gives the Jedi their power, but it is so. As Jedi Knight Vergere said, "there is no dark side". While many believed she was lying, others saw the truth. The Force was everywhere and everything; for it to be split in two was unthinkable. Thus, there were areas of the all-encompassing Force. These dark patches of the Force were the powers the Sith tapped into. It was still considered the dark side, though not as literally.
However a Jedi chose to look at the Force depended on their own point of view. The Force could never really be explained in detail, as each Jedi's experiences with it were different. Some saw it as a vast, flowing river, while others saw nothing but happiness and warmth when they tapped in into it. The only thing a Jedi could be certain of was that the Force is all, and all is the Force. |
