| This report examines the issues of Biblical unity that need to be addressed in the ministry as a whole and suggests that a cultural diversity training program be implemented in the ministry on a voluntary basis provided that such training be according to the Holy Bible. The purpose of said training would not only be to better equip the saints in their ministry work, but also to address certain issues that some of the members of the ministry unknowingly exhibit. | Business Administration-Management Information Systems I was required to take not only a cultural diversity class, but also a business writing class. Both classes were taken this semester and as a requirement for my business writing class, I had to write a formal recommendation report dealing with a problem and a solution in a small group to a small business setting. As part of an answer for my final in my cultural diversity class I had to design a program that would combat the issues of racism. As a result, I was led by God to write this report and in the process have gathered up Christian resources that cover this issue. This report is also to serve as a basis for a report that another individual has been working for months on that will also be presented to her church. These issues can cause a separation of the brotherhood of Christians based on racial differences. I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of nave people. Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. (Romans 16:17-19) Innocent about what is evil? How can we be innocent of evil when we do not even realize that some of those so-called truths that we hold to are different from one race to the next or from one persons perspective to the next? I realize that this kind of training should be done in the homes, but in cases, especially those like minethe parents are not necessarily there for their children the way that they should be. During the course of my cultural diversity class, I realized that my everyday actions needed to change so that not only could my life served as a better example |

| for others, but also so that I could be more sensitive to the needs and concerns of those to whom I minister. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. (Isaiah 1:16b-1:17a) How can one be enabled to encourage the oppressed when one is not necessarily familiar with some of the aspects that are bothering the other? I realize that by receiving a cultural diversity training education of some sort one is more able to encourage the oppressed. This I found to be especially true when a brother of mine, who was at the time being oppressed by others of my race, came to me because I kept talking about my cultural diversity training class that I was enrolled in this last semester. The conversations I have been having with this brother are often cut short because of the amount of information that is revealed, but I have no doubt that by being as honest as I can about the information I share with him that he is being better able to deal with the situation. I also have no doubt that it means so much more to him that it is coming from me because he is being oppressed by individuals of my own race at work. The support of a voluntary cultural diversity program does not just come from me but from others in the ministry as well. Included in this report is a testimony of Brother Phil Martinez another volunteer in the ministry who has also been involved in a cultural diversity-training program. Most of us hold certain beliefs and attitudes that a Christian ought not to have and the majority do not even realize their errors. I know that some of the issues in dealing with cultural diversity can only be solved through prayer. I also know that there are other issues that we can take some steps toward solving, all the while remembering to keep Jesus Christ at the center of it all. |
