| What remains then is what God would have to say about implementing such a program, a biblical approach towards multiculturalism places a commitment to Christ and his truths at the center of understanding cultural differences. Through the employment of a biblical paradigm [set of accepted beliefs] both the limits of secular multiculturalism as well as its strengths are measured against a standard grounded in the tenets of the Judeo-Christian tradition, namely truth, justice, and reconciliation (Allen, 6). From this, we can gauge the fact that if we were to stick to only tolerating those beliefs that are in line with the scripture then it would be beneficial for such a program to be implemented. Jesus came here to save the entire world, not just the Jews for all men were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:24-31). Some individuals would argue that such a program not be a part of any Christianity on the basis that God implemented and created different races, cultures, and tongues because man was accomplishing feats that took partial sovereignty away from God (Genesis 11). If this is the stance said individual chooses to take then the question should be asked: what would have happened if man chose not to collaborate in such feats as building a tower to attempt to reach the heavens. The answer should be obvious: the separation of man and the devising of different tongues would not have taken place, thus leaving us all with the same culture and same tongue. |
