Demographics:  Representative of the Whole???
During an interview conducted with Brother Phil Martinez, the viewpoints here were discussed.  When asked if there were any other issues that were not addressed the question came up about Is the ministry currently equipped to handle to minister to others effectively on the issues of racism?
Upon his suggestion, a demographic survey was conducted using three separate charts.  Figure 1 shows the demographic make up of the city of Milwaukee, where most of the work of the ministry is conducted at various park, shelter, jail, and other inner-city neighborhood outreach events.  Figure 2 shows the demographic make-up of the volunteers of the ministry as a whole.  Figure 3 shows the demographic make-up of the Board of Directors for the ministry.

By looking at Figure 1 and comparing that to Figure 2, we can see who is usually ministering to whom.  The Figures clearly show that in Figure 2 there is an over representation of whites and an under-representation of African Americans and other races as well.  Are we really equipped fairly enough to handle the concerns of the individuals?  If not, is there any other way besides prayer that we can be?
What can be deducted from comparing Figure 2 to Figure 3 is that the Board more or less represents the volunteers of the ministry rather fairly, but that is not the problem.  The members of the ministry are not the ones to which we are usually ministering.  The individuals that we are ministering to are the ones in the inner city (Figure 1).
