REFLECTIONS ON
STANDARD V
As I read over Standard V, I immediately begin to think of ways that I can use technology to enhance student learning in my school.  This standard covers every aspect of the integration process from uitlizing professional devlopment resources, to conducting research on professional practices, to applying the technology, to informing others as to benefit student learning.  By "arming" yourself with as much knowledge about various methods and strategies for utilizing technology, you can maximize student learning in the classroom and throughout your school.
Wang's article was selected for this Standard because it provides valuable information for teachers who are trying to integrate technology into the curriculum with there ESL students.  Wang provides insight as to what generally works and does not work.  As a teacher who works with many ESL students, this article provided me with strategies that I was able to incorporate and use successfully into my class.  The beauty of this standard is that it encourages teachers to learn new things, apply them in the classroom, and then share so that a larger population can benefit from the fruits of your labor.
For example, the two artifacts that I have selected for this Standard (Math & Science Webliography & RubiStar Rubric) are items that I have found while researching the web.  I then evaluated these sites to determine if they are appropriate for educational use. Once that was determined, I integrated my findings into my lessons with my students.  The sites used were then placed into a Webliography and made available for my peers, while the rubrics I generated were published within that web page for other educators to use as a template in their classrooms if they so chose.

This artifact is a webliography of useful sites that can be utilized by teachers, parents, and students to find various websites in the content areas of math and science.  These artifacts specifically address standard TF - V.C - 6.  These items were placed in this portfolio because it required the candidate to evaluate several web sites in the field of Math and Science and determine whether or not they are appropriate enough to be incorporated into the classroom.  Once that was determined, I wrote a brief description of each web site and explained what one would have to gain by visiting it.  These artifacts are an excellent way to share various websites with other teachers and parents as they look for appropriate sites for the there students/children.

Artifact Two for Standard V:
Writing Rubric Created on Rubistar

This writing rubric satisfies the requirements of standard TF - V.D - 2.  I created this rubric using the website,  Rubistar 4 Teachers.  This program allows educators to create assessment tools based on the criterion inputed by the teacher.  Once your assessment tool is created, you have the opportunity to submit your rubric to the Rubistar database where it can be accessed by teachers all over the world.  This database acts a means of communication amongst peers as teachers can search the numerous assessment tools submitted by other teachers and get ideas that can be used in the classroom.  Since I have began using this website, I have recommended Rubistar to many of my collegeagues who immediately found it useful and beneficial.  My peers and I now email one another to inform each other about the rubrics we have created in case anyone else would like to utilize the rubric in their lessons.
