Important Names in John Gerrath's Family Lines

What follows are short synopses of various lines I am researching, especially some which are giving me headaches. I hope what follows is informative and helpful to family members and anyone on similar research tacks. All information is believed to be correct, but errors of content and interpretation are always possible.
There is a LOT more information available to those who may be interested.
Most living family members have been left out of the synopses for reasons of privacy.

ANDERSON, CAMPBELL, DREWRY, GERHARDS/GERATHS/GERRATH, GRAHAM, HAMILTON, HYLAND/HIGHLANDS, KURTENBACH, LAKE, LAYZELL, MUIR, PATRICK, PULLEN, SCHLAGER(S)/STEVEN(S), REID, RENNIE, RIDDELL, THOMLINSON

Campbell:
I have two Campbell lines, both are unconnected in place and time.
The first is my GGG-Grandmother Margaret Campbell, who comes from Knapdale (Kilberry) in Argyllshire, Scotland. She married John Graham there in 1824 and they had several kids before emigrating to Perth County, Ontario, Canada in 1842 (or so). I don't know who her folks were, and she comes from a Campbell-rich area which will be tough to sift through. She and her family appear in the 1841 census of their town at the farmstead called (I think) Balmar (or Balnar). Margaret is listed as "Margaret Campbell", which is odd. Perhaps she and John WEREN'T married (which is unlikely, due to the marriage record), or perhaps Margaret was a member of a well-known Knapdale Campbell family and had decided to keep this lineage front and center. Maybe the census taker was a relative. I don't know. Give me a shout if you know which is right.

The second line is still around and living in Northern Michigan. William Gillespie Campbell was married around the turn of the century in Emmet County, Michigan to the Canadian gal, Mary Elizabeth Patrick, who had been brought to Kalkaska Co., Michigan by her parents (John Patrick and Sarah McTaggart) . William and Mary had one son, Robert Anson Campbell, who married Mildred Schlienz. They had a couple of kids, who winter in the Southern States of America.

Hamilton:
Do I have Hamiltons? Whoo-BOY! Do I have Hamiltons! Actually, I don't have that much info about my Hamilton lines, but I DO have two of them, and they are COMPLETELY unrelated!
The First line begins in the Wigtownshire parishes of Portpatrick and Leswalt (near the city of Stranraer) with William Hamilton and Ann Ferguson. I don't know much about them, but they apparently farmed in Leswalt during the early 1800's. Their first child, Helen, was born in 1805 in Portpatrick, and the rest, James, Jane, William, Ann, Mary and David were born in Leswalt at regular intervals (David being born in 1822). Jane married Irish-born Thomas Rennie on November 22, 1840 in Stranraer and eventually moved to Glasgow with her five children and lived there until her death in 1884. I don't know anything about Jane's brother's and sisters, so any Wigtown-born Hamiltons could be relatives! Interestingly, a cousin named Robert Hamilton lived in Whonnock, British Columbia during the early 1900's. He is related, but how he actually links to his neighbouring cousins is a complete mystery to me.
Here's the family report:

1 William Hamilton
.+Annie Ferguson
........2 Helen Hamilton b: 1805 in Port Patrick, Wigtonshire, Scotland
........2 James Hamilton b: 1806 in Leswalt, Wigtonshire, Scotland
........2 Jane Hamilton b: February 22, 1810 in Leswalt, Wigtownshire, Scotland
..............d: December 4, 1884 in 339 Dumbarton Rd, Partick, Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland
............+Thomas Rennie b: December 8, 1814 in County Down, Ireland
.................d: April 7, 1874 in 21 Lumsden St., Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
.............m: November 22, 1840 in Stranraer, Wigtownshire, Scotland
........2 William Hamilton b: 1811 in Leswalt, Wigtonshire, Scotland
........2 Ann Hamilton b: 1812 in Leswalt, Wigtonshire, Scotland
........2 Mary Hamilton b: 1814 in Leswalt, Wigtonshire, Scotland
........2 David Hamilton b: 1822 in Leswalt, Wigtonshire, Scotland

The Second line arrived in Perth County, Ontario, Canada from Roxburghshire, Scotland during the late 1830's. Alexander Hamilton (b. 1813 in Sct., son of Alexander Hamilton and Mary Stuart) married Jane Wilson in 1845 and settled near the small town of Shakespeare, North EastHope Twp., Perth Co., Ontario. Their son Thomas (b. 1853), the fifth of their eight children, married Isabella Stevenson (part of my Graham Family) in nearby Downie Twp., Perth Co., in 1885. They stayed in Shakespeare and had at least four children. After that, I don't know what happened to them, so if you are descended from the Shakespeare Hamiltons, I'd love to hear from you!
Here's this family's report:

1 Thomas Hamilton b: May 2, 1853 in Perth Co?, Ontario, Canada Occupation: Farmer
.+Isabella Stevenson b: September 9, 1858 in Downie Township, Ontario, Canada
...m: November 11, 1885 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada

Hyland/Highlands:
This line is an offshoot of the Graham family that sadly died out in the first half of the 20th Century in the town of St. Mary's, Ontario, leaving no descendants. William Hyland, a tailor in St. Mary's, Ontario, married Sarah Graham in 1865. The couple had about five children between 1868 and 1880. William worked for various firms in St. Mary's, including Timothy Eaton's early department store (Mr. Eaton moved to St. Mary's for one year before going to Toronto and starting the current Eaton's chain). He was the son of William and Rebecca Hyland, who probably lived in the Ottawa valley or possibly in Wellington County (okay, so I'm not that positive). His family was very active in the St. Mary's United Church. None of his children seem to have married or had children, so this family ends in St. Mary's. Thanks to the folks at the St. Mary's Museum for their help in researching this line.

Kurtenbach:
Every Kurtenbach in North America is connected to each other!
This slight re-working of the timeless genealogical theory "We are all cousins, eventually." comes from my Kurtenbach relatives. Although I may not be connected directly to every Kurtenbach in North America, my cousin Clarence Kurtenbach says that he is. This, by the way, includes Orland Kurtenbach, the former captain of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team (his position, at this time, being ably filled by Mark Messier). Clarence ought to know about all this, since he wrote a book about the Kurtenbach name.
The Kurtenbachs enter onto the scene with my grandaunts Ursula, Katherine and Nellie Geraths. All were born in Dane Co., Wisconsin but moved, with the family, to the area of Mitchell, South Dakota during the late 1880's where they met "The Kurtenbach Brothers".
William, Phillip and Henry Kurtenbach were the sons of Joseph Wilheim Kurtenbach and Elizabeth Klein, and were born around the 1870's in Aegidienberg, Prussia, Germany. Which is south-east of Bonn, near Königswinter. The brothers, presumably, met my aunts in the small town of Dimock (about 140 people nowadays) and married them in quick succession. The following cascade of descendants is truly mind-boggling.
Click here for a report and an abridged idea of the Kurtenbachs. I have lots more info, some detailed, some "less so".

Descendants of Phillipp Kurtenbach and Katherine Geraths

Lake:
I have very little about this line . James Lake, the son of James and Irena Lake, was born and raised in Downie Township, Perth County, Ontario. James, a long-time farm-hand with the Graham family of Avonbank, eventually married Betsey Graham (the youngest daughter of John Graham and Margaret Campbell) in 1862. They had three kids, that I know of, and skipped the county sometime between 1871 and 1881 (census years). Where did they go? I think it was New York State, but I have NO proof. Do you? Please give me a shout.

Muir:
This is actually two seemingly separate lines of Muirs that end up living in the same county in Ontario (Perth County), both marrying into the same Graham family of the same region.
The first line begins with the possibly Irish couple of Alexander Muir (b. 1792) and Isabella Holmes (b. 1793). Weirdly, these two can be found living in Gorbals, Glasgow not too far from my Rennie ancestors of the early 1820's. They moved to Canada during the 1840's and turn up in Downie Twp., Perth County, Ontario, where their four children started building their own families. Alex and Isabella's daughter Mary (b. 1835 in Glasgow) married the local farmer Duncan Graham, the son of John Graham and Margaret Campbell. I don't know much about these Grahams, but Duncan's son Alex (b. 1868) moved to Parry Sound and is rumoured to have been the first stop in Canada for the young orphan, William Drewry.
Here's their line:

1 Alexander Muir b: 1792 in Ireland d: 1870 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
.+Isabella Holmes b: August 3, 1793 in Scotland?, Ireland?? d: February 24, 1884 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
........2 David Muir b: 1817 in Scotland d: October 22, 1877 in Downie Township, Ontario, Canada
............+Isabella Bain b: 1826 in Scotland d: March 15, 1908 in Downie Township, Ontario, Canada
............m: June 8, 1860 in Downie Township, Ontario, Canada
........2 Ellen (Helen) Muir b: February 5, 1820 in Gorbals, Lanark, Scotland
...............d: 1893 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
............+Unknown McDavid
........2 Robert Muir b: 1835 in Scotland d: 1912
............+Catherine Scott b: 1841 in Scotland d: 1884
............m: December 2, 1859 in Downie Township, Ontario, Canada
........2 Mary Muir b: March 6, 1835 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
...............d: November 1, 1907 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
............+Duncan Graham b: November 4, 1832 in Kilberry, Kilcalmonell and Kilberry, Argyllshire, Scotland
...............d: May 21, 1918 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
............m: June 8, 1863 in Downie Twp.?, Perth Co., Ontario, Canada

The second line I only know incompletely, but it's pretty big anyway. It starts with John Muir (b. 1812 in Scotland) and Ann Barry (b. 1818 in Scotland). John probably came to Canada or the States during the 1830's with other members of his family, but I don't know a thing about those folks. John and Ann show up in Downie Twp., Perth Country, Ontario, by at least 1840 with the birth of Ann, possibly their first child. The couple proceeded to have at least ten other children. William Muir, b. 1859, one of their last kids, married Elizabeth Graham the daughter of John Graham and Mary Patrick. Many of their descendants still live in Perth County, and when my family moved back to Ontario they would always invite us to their annual Summer Reunion in Oxford County, and we always went!
Here's the short version of John and Ann's family line:

1 John Muir b: 1812 in Scotland d: 1898 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada
.+Ann Barry b: 1818 in Scotland d: 1903 in Downie Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada

Reid:
I have a feeling that this line holds a lot of surprises, mainly because (since I just found out about it) I haven't cracked most of the descendants yet. Peter Reid, a native of Beith, Ayr, Scotland, married Jane Patrick (the daughter of Andrew Patrick and Janet Dick) sometime during the mid-1840's, probably in Paris or Innerkip, Ontario.
They lived in Blandford Township, Oxford Co., Ontario near the towns of Paris and Innerkip, not too far from the Perth County home of the rest of Jane's family. Peter, an important Blandford Twp. landowner of the time, seems to have been held in great esteem by his father-in-law, as Andrew Patrick named one of his many sons Peter Reid Patrick. Peter and Jane had about 10 kids in Blandford Twp.. The oldest child of Peter and Jane, Thomas, married Maria Burnett in 1873. Elizabeth Reid married Matthew Chesney in 1883 and Janet Reid married a William Howard at about the same time. Elizabeth and Matthew (the Chesneys) swelled the already large population of Chesneys in Blandford Twp. with eight children. There are hints that some of these Chesneys, some Reids and, possibly, some Howards went west to the B.C./Washington/Oregon coast. Check in later as I find out more about these folks.
As usual, any help would be much appreciated.

Riddle/Riddel/Riddell:
What I know of this line takes place, so far, entirely in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. James Riddel (possibly the son of Charles Riddle and Barbara Meldrum) was born in the parish of Rhynie and Essie in 1818. He married Mary Melvin and ended up living in her home parish of Auchindoir. James and Mary had several children, including Mary Riddell, who was born in Auchidoir in 1847. Mary married James Anderson (of the parish of Logie-Coldstone) at Birkhill, Logie-Coldstone in 1868. I only have marriage info about one of their ten children, and she is my G-Grandmother Isabella Anderson. She married a cousin of hers (William Anderson) in 1895 at Burnside, Logie-Coldstone and had lots of kids.
Here's the line in simple report format, and teeny letters.

1 Charles Riddle b: Abt. 1789 in Rhynie and Essie, Aberdeen, Scotland

Schlager/Steven:
These lines were pieced together from the incredibly detailed German Catholic church registers of Gotzenkirchen and Hemmersbach, both in the Kerpen region of Rheinland, which is in Germany, just west of Köln. So, we have Matthew Steven, (whose first wife, Anna Ripp had just died), wedding Gertrude Schlager, the daughter of Phillip Schlager and Sibil Madder, in 1791 Gotzenkirchen. Matthew and Gertrude's first child was Peter Steven, who died just after the birth of their second child, Anna Maria Steven (b.1792). Anna Maria later married Friederich Geraths in 1820. This couple had been tagged as the two who started the Geraths family line, but it has turned out not to be so.
Matthew died in 1793, and, as far as I know, Gertrude moved back to Hemmersbach (her home town) with Anna Maria in tow. She may have remarried there.
Here's the microscopic line for your perusal.
