THINGS TO
KEEP AN
OUT FOR
Keep an eye out for properly
displayed menus and price lists. The list should
also carry an official "Cabildo Insular de
Tenerife stamp" (The island council).
Guaranteeing that the prices you are being charged
fall within the recommended prices of that area
Restaurants, Bars and Cafes must
by law display prices inside & outside their
establishments.
By law all establishments that are
open to the public, this includes hotels. They
must have the complaints book displayed and the
complaints forms "hojo de reclamacion"
must be perfectly visible. Under no
circumstances may a customer be denied access to
these forms.
Local Town Halls are trying very
hard to stamp out illegal practices, it's only
through denucias that the administration can shut
down the offending bars & restaurants.
Spend some time checking your
bill, don't let any bar or restaurant issue you with
a bill with the minimum amount of information.
If you are out for a drink pay as you go, don't run
a tab.
