Kikyo is a priestess who, when she was alive, was entrusted with the task of purifying the Shikon Jewel. She was in love with Inuyasha, but then sealed him to a tree with one of her sacred arrows after Naraku tricked her into thinking that Inuyasha had betrayed her. Kikyo is very complicated because Kagome now has her soul so she only has a half-life since she was brought back from the dead. She commands demons who collect the souls of dead women which she absorbs to sustain her body. Her personality is very different from what it originally was. She basically wanders around, waiting for Naraku to collect the entire Shikon Jewel so she can kill him and take the Jewel. She also wants Inuyasha to die with her, and hates Kagome with a passion for softening Inuyasha's heart.
