Models have always been synonymous with beauty pageants. A great majority of those that eventually either place high or even win a title  have at some point in their career done some modelling. Why not? After all, models embody the undefined standards of beauty!  Now, the question is....

Yes, they can walk,
      but can they
talk?

Let's see who the serious contenders are, according to anyone who's who in the crazy world of pageantry!

Phoemela Baranda
Phoemela is a 20 year old student at the De La Salle University- St. Benilde College. Asia's  most sought after model was also voted by  Cosmopolitan maga-zine as one of the 'Philippines' Eight Sexiest!'
"Phoemela's face is a classic! Definitely beauty queen material. Her aura seems to jump right off the screen and into your  living room. Excellent  combination of Western and Eastern looks plus the model's ability to convey her moods through so many transformations is what makes this girl star material."    -Pageant Fan

2001?
"Recommended for the Miss Universe Pageant. The  chances of placing  high
in the competition is put at a high
90%. If I  were to be a  judge, I'd give  her a 9.96 alone based on overall impression."
                                         - Heimlich
"Her resemblance to the beauty of past Miss Indias is amazing! She can look  Asian in one  picture and yet completely change  her profile  in the next. Here  is a woman who will go places. Already, she has started to make  waves in the  international circuit  arena of  the Asian market where she is now revered as a star!"

"I once saw Phoemela downtown at the mall. She looked very simple up close, but her presence can be felt by all."                                -Pageant Fan

GRACE TAGLE FOR
MISS PHILIPPINES UNIVERSE 2001?
"Grace  is a  photographer's dream! Perfection captured forever within the confines of a frozen frame. An ethereal  beauty reminiscent of  the grand Filipina beauties of the early 1800's. The true reincarnation of Crisostomo Ibarra's Maria Clara. I have never seen anyone so heavenly.
For a while, I thought the  gods have  made their dwelling among mortals. Woman, you are indeed
full of grace..."                                  -Heimlich

"Will  certainly  cause a stir if she  joins the Miss Philippines 2001. Her unearthly
attributes will catapult her to heights she never  even dreamt of. She  has a 92% chance of striking it big, preferably at
the Miss  Universe  Pageant, same as Phoemela. As an unofficial judge, I give her a 9.95! Too bad, my score will just be deleted due to the nature of the scoring system. Never the less, that is what she deserves, and nothing lower than that."

"Grace was my classmate back in college and as early as back  then, she was  already  a model.
She remained  down to  earth  though, despite  her success  in a very exposed  field. She was easily recognized  anywhere on campus. I still clearly remember how well she did in our class. She  excelled in all  her academics and partici- pated enthusiastically in all the class discussions. She is simply beautiful."

"Cristina Garcia  has the face  that can  launch
a  thousand  ships.  A good  blend of Eurasian features makes this model a standout in a crowd. More  Hispanic looking than  Filipina, Cristina is testimony to the rich  cultural  and racial heritage of the islands. World class!"
                                             -Pageant Fan
"Cristina, with her unique mestiza looks, will
clearly be an excellent representative for the Miss World Pageant. With her doll like and
delicate  porcelain  features, flawless  skin, confidence, and good projection, she easily gets a 9.80 from me!"
                                                  -Heimlich
