Pictured above: an entry for The Milk Carton!
Congratulations to Gabrielle Miller for winning a Leo award in the category of Best Performance or Host(s) in a Music, Comedy, or Variety Program or Series for her hilarious work in "The Brent Effect!"
March 1, 2007: Crossed three items off The Milk Carton, but had to add three more (two Robson Arms episodes and an episode of Intelligence). The three items I was able to cross off can be seen in the reviews I just posted of Gabrielle's appearances in Dead Man's Gun, Neon Rider, and Madison. The latter two contain some nice screenshots, courtesy of Paul R. from Toronto (to whom I also owe thanks for sending me a tape containing these two episodes). Also, in response to a December 2006 e-mail from a reader, I annotated existing FAQ items to show how often these questions (or close variations therof) have been asked. When I promised this during my last update, I thought it would be relatively easy - but after several hours of going through my e-mail and seeing what a small dent I had made at that point, I realized I bit off a bit more than I could chew - which means I didn't get to posting the four Corner Gas episodes I received in February, and didn't have the time to sort through my recent e-mail for the best new FAQ entries in time for this update (I won't be able to do another for a month or so, so I thought it best to put up what I have ready now). Lastly, in response to the last item in the current FAQ (an amazingly good idea from a site reader), I posted a list of comedic MVPs for each of the first 58 episodes of Corner Gas (see it here - it prints out to two pages). It should be noted that a.) these results are my opinion only (feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] if you disagree with any of them), b.) even though I'm a huge fan of Gabrielle Miller, no effort was made to slant the results in her favor, and c.) no effort was made to make sure everyone was represented equally. The show doesn't allow for Emma or Karen to be the funniest characters very often, for instance - and neither of them came out as MVP in a lot of episodes - but it should be pointed out that this in no way diminishes the contribution to the show made by Janet Wright and Tara Spencer-Nairn. The next update wll contain four reviews of Corner Gas episodes at a minimum, and if time permits some new Milk Carton items might be included as well, or perhaps the bloopers from Season 3 that I haven't been able to get around to yet.. My better half and I will be in New York for the next two weeks, so I'll take this opportunity to wish you all the best for what's left of winter, and I'll be back to update the site in spring. All the best - Grad86
January 31, 2007: A very belated happy 2007 to everyone. The last couple months of last year and the first month of this one were a bit hectic and had me out of town for a large part of that time, so I hope you'll all forgive the longer-than-usual delay between updates. With things back to what passes as "normal" for me, the updates should be more frequent from now on. I just posted reviews to fourth-season Corner Gas episodes Hair Comes the Judge, Dog River Dave, Two Degrees of Separation, Just Brent and his Shadow, Demolition, Jail House, I, Witness, and Blog River. The next update will contain two or three new Milk Carton items (I actually have a few more than that in stock that thanks to generous site readers who have my eternal gratitude), a list of comedic MVPs (for you non-sports fans, that's "Most Valuable Player") for each Corner Gas episode (in response to a superb suggestion you can see at the end of the current list of FAQs), some more additions to the FAQ list (you should see some of the mail I got when I was gone) and a new feature in response to another excellent suggestion from a site reader: a number in parentheses after each FAQ question to show how often I've received each question on the list. I also have a few more Corner Gas fourth-season episodes on the way, and of course there's still third-season bloopers to start on . It's my resolution for this year to be better about updating the site, so let's see how I do should all go well. For my Canadian readers, please be advised that the second season of Robson Arms starts on February 10th on CTV. I hope all is well with all of you, and as always feel free to drop me a line. Cheers and all the best from D.C. - Grad 86
October 31, 2006: HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO GABRIELLE MILLER AND ALL HER FANS.
Crossed two more items off of The Milk Carton and posted reviews of Outer Limits episode The Tipping Point and Collector episode The Roboticist. Thanks go to Toronto's Paul R. for these episodes and for the screenshots you see on the Collector review. Also added NINE more questions to the FAQ section, which stretches the total to 68. Next update will feature more Milk Carton episodes (I know this takes a while, but when I have time to update the site I post reviews in the order I receive the episodes, so thanks in advance for the patience of everyone who has sent me Milk Carton items). By this time I hope to have the first few episodes of the fourth season of Corner Gas and get those reviewed and posted too. As always, apologies for taking so long to update the site. Happy Halloween, everyone.
