le courtisane de mode

Rodmilla's Tennis / Walking Gown

Costume Description
Mustard yellow velvet gown with brocade accents. Floor length. Probably one piece with movie 'cheats.' Full skirt pleated into empire waist. Square neckline with lighter green brocade insert. The rest of the bodice is a darker green brocade. Edges are piped. Tight oversleeves of matching mustard velvet are tied to armscye with green cording. Interesting detail at armscye. Slashes allow for poofs of yellow print undersleeve to peek through (see picture #6). Worn with long rope necklace and shorter jeweled cross. Hair is covered with sheer white veil trimmed in gold.

Worn with matching sleeveless cloak of dark green brocade (see picture #4). This is the same cloak worn with her Green Gown.

Historical Reference
Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some. Here is a historical painting with similar elements to Rodmilla's Tennis / Walking Gown (bodice and shoulders):

The Betrothal by Unknown Artist, Verona, 1490s (and detail)
