Rodmilla's Green Velvet Gown

Costume Description
At first this dress seems to be completely of velvet, but lightening pictures has shown that the dress is actually of a patterned brocade with wide velvet trim at the neckline (see picture #3 - also a great shot of the back seams [lacing!]). Floor-length gown. Probably one piece with movie ‘cheats.’ Just a hint of white chemise at sleeve cap. Low empire waist with full skirt pleated evenly into waist. Tight oversleeves to wrist tied with rope cording at sleeve cap (picture #3-4). Gold-green rope tied at waist with short tails. Worn with long rope necklace and shorter jeweled cross. In one scene, worn with a dark green brocade cloak (same one worn with her Tennis / Walking Gown). See pictures #5-6. In another scene, the cloak is worn with detachable sleeves of taffeta embellished down the length with gold scrollwork (the same design used on the collar of her Marketplace Gown). See picture #9. Additional striped padded headdress and white chiffon veil (also worn with her Marketplace Gown).

Historical Reference
Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some. A few historical references with similar elements to Rodmilla's Green Velvet Gown are shown below.

Picture #1, left and Picture #2, middle show a similar gown style while Picture #3, right has a similar two-part sleeve treatment (one of the two sets of sleeves worn with this costume). See Rodmilla's Marketplace Gown for more information on her headdress.
