Rodmilla's Meeting Gown

Costume Description
Brown velvet dress with chevron pattern on bodice. Floor-length with slight train (see picture #1 - though it's possible the train we're seeing is actually from the overcloak, not the dress itself). Probably one piece with movie cheats. Sleeves of textured green fabric, featuring lacy white cuffs (picture #4) and worn under gauntlets of brown velvet. Some type of contrasting waistband built into dress? See picture #3. Worn with long gold girdle (picture #5). Dark velvet sleeveless overcloak trimmed with gold scrollwork (the same that decorates the cape of her Marketplace Gown and the taffeta sleeves of her Green Gown brocade overcloak). Worn with long rope necklace and shorter jeweled cross. Her hair is twisted with white cording or thread, then covered with an intricate padded striped headdress - probably velvet, embellished with wide ribbon and encrusted with pearls.

See lightened graphic (picture #11) illustrating these details. Red arrow: White lacey cuff. Red lines: Chevron pattern on velvet bodice. Yellow circle: Gold girdle. Blue arrows: Gold scrollwork design on velvet sleeveless overcloak.

Historical Reference
Thanks to the cosprop.co.uk concept sketches, we know for certain that the vast majority of the costumes in Ever After were inspired by historical paintings, e.g., Danielle's Princess Gown, Danielle's Blue Library Gown, Jacqueline's Green Brocade Gown. We've been able to identify many of the paintings seen in these concept sketches, but since we don't have sketches for each costume, we have to speculate for some.

Picture #1, left has a similar two-part sleeve treatment. The padded crescent headdress that Rodmilla wears were called balzos. For more information on this style, check out these awesome study pages [here] and [here].
