Here it is!  The Oz Top 20 Countdown for the week ending February 16, 2002.

I decided to revamp the looks on my page this week.  I really like the new look and hop you do as well.  If you have comments, feel free to email me at [email protected].

Ok, on to the charts!  Well, I have to say that I have had many turnovers at number on of the last few weeks.  Since Britney held the top spot for two weeks a month ago, we have now had 4 new number ones each week.  This week Cher has been dethroned to make way for the Backstreet Boys.  They FINALLY debut at number one with
Drowning, from their greatest hits package.  Now, I have known of this song for quite a while, but it wasn't until last week that I really appreciated this song.  The piano intro sounds EXACTLY like O-Town's All Or Nothing and at first I thought that this song was a bad excuse of All Or Nothing, but after hearing it for the first time in a few weeks, I really got to like it.  So BSB makes what is going to probably be their final appearance on my countdown at number one (there are plenty of rumors going around that they are going to break up).

Garbage and Mary J. Blige round out this weeks debuts.
Breaking Up The Girl rockets in at number two this week.  I saw the premiere of this video during the final Daria movie and wasn't too impressed.  But slowly the song grew on me and now I love it.  This is the first single to make it onto my charts from their latest album, Beautifulgarbage.  Both Androgony and Cherry Lips failed to make much of an impact on my charts.  This is Garbage's first apperance since Push It was a top 5 hit back in 1998.

Mary J. Blige recently hit number three in December with
Family Affair.  The second release (US) from her latest debuts this week at number 11.  I have seen the video for this song for quite a while now and finally got off my butt and put it on the countdown where this great song deserves to be.  Oddly enough, this song samples the intro from The Young & The Restless.  Very catchy indeed!

It looks as if 6 was this weeks unlucky number five songs plummet six spots down this week, each taking big faller awards.  I have never had so many before and probably won't again.  So consider yourself lucky for seeing it!

It seems that Natalie Merchang just couldn't last!  After reentering last week, she falls off, only to see another song reenter this week.  After seeing the video for
Sing, which is VERY good, I remembered why I liked the song so much!  So this week it reenters at number 16.  Will this fall off next week?  Only time will tell.

Anyway, that's about all for this week.  Come back next week to see if there will be another new number one or if BSB can manage to remain on top.

Until then ...
