| Here it is! The Oz Top 20 Countdown for the week ending February 2, 2002. The first chart of February has 5 debuts, including a new number one, so let's get started! A battle of the Minogues! While Kylie slips this week, falling back to number 19, her sister Dannii debuts at number one as a featured artist on Riva's song, Who Do You Love Now? I finally downloaded the track this week and fell in love immediately. Depending on how much (or how little) I listen to this, it could be number one for a few weeks. Following at number four is a track I have been listening to for a while, but finally realized I liked it! Alcazar's Cryin' At The Discoteque has been on my playlist for weeks now, but when I went to a bar in Des Moines the other week and heard it again (as well as Jamiroquai, who debuts at number 13) I realized what a great song it is. At number 15 and 16 are the remainder of our two debuts, last week's bubbling under songs (and for the first time there are no bubbling under tracks). At number 15 is the latest from A1. They last would have hit the charts in late 2000 with Same Old Brand New You, one of my favorite songs from my UK stay. They enter this week one place in front of Jimmy Eat World. I don't know much about this band, but The Middle should prove to be a huge pop hit in the coming months. Look for it to shoot up our charts in the next few weeks (or maybe not, with the rapid turnover on my charts). This week's biggest mover is only a 3 place jumper. After debuting last week at number 6, Natalie Imbruglia moves up 3 spots to number three. Not much of a jump, but it's another top 3 hit for the Aussie Popstar. Another big story this week is Steps. After spending 7 weeks with a number 11 peak, they finally get a new peak at number 10 after 8 charts. How far will it get, well time will tell. Anyway, that's about all for this week. With all the congestion in the top 5, it should be an exciting week next week. Until then ... |
