Volunteers Needed

High School-Jewish Legion

Although the Jewish Legion originally recruited only volunteers who had completed the minimum of High School. After the request of a few very serious High School students, a program has been developed to allow them to volunteer, while completing their studies in Israel. The program is only for those who are ready to be away from a home for the year, or the majority of the year. (See below for Schooling options).

The Jewish Legion has arranged different options for those who want to help save lives, and even if it means continuing their learning in .Israel. Remember that parent permission is required for minors, and so be sure to discuss this with your parents beforehand.

Volunteers who do meet the criteria set above, have a few different options to continue their education.  Sleeping arrangements can be made in Tapuach for those learning in nearby Yeshiva-High School in Eli (Approximately 10 minutes south of Tapucah) or sleeping arrangements in the Bnai Torah Yeshiva in Jerusalem, whereby volunteers come in for weekends, and other off periods when they undergo training and guarding of settlements.

Volunteers, also have the option of continuing their education in Tapuach, from trained teachers and tutors, and to go for exams when they are ready in schools in Israel which gives a Pennsylvania State High School Diploma.

Those who are thinking of making Aliyah, in the future or who have many family members in Israel, and can live away from home for long periods, and are ready to patrol and defend the hills of Judea and Samaria should see this as their number one opportunity.  Every set of extra eyes, every extra patrol that can be put out, every extra observation point that can be manned, means less of a chance of terrorists attempting and succeeding in attacking Jews, and a bigger chance for the Jewish people to win the war against Arab terror.

All Jewish Legion volunteers' needs are provided:

  • Kosher Lemahdrin meals are served 3 times daily, in the JL mess hall.

  • Housing in regular homes in Tapuach, similar accommodations elsewhere.

  • Laundry room provided

  • Computer room with Internet access (for communicating with relatives back home)

  • Land-line phones on site (Although cell-phones are extremely cheap to purchase or rent)

  • Financial Aid for other needs are given to volunteers monthly.

Note: Entry into the the JL-High School program is harder then other programs, and is only for those who are extremely serious. The program is recommended for ages of 17 (or those turning 17 during the year) although exceptions can be made for younger volunteers. For further information, fill out a form and we will get back to you and discuss the possible options.

At a ceremony, a JL volunteer is congratulated after completing training.

JL volunteer rides security truck on routine security patrol.
