Volunteers Needed

Ulpan-Jewish Legion

Those who wish to help save lives and at the same time learn or improve their Hebrew, can now do so. The Jewish Legion has started Ulpan classes (Hebrew intensive) divided on different levels, depending on your previous Hebrew level.

Volunteers will have plenty of time to both carry out training and security detail, while also having more then enough time to attend classes and review all that has been learned during the day.

This program is open to all types of volunteers, from new arrivals to those who just want to pickup the language of the Jewish people.  The classes are being set up in Tapuach, which makes travel to other cities or towns unnecessary. Due to the Ulpan being relatively new, and open to Jewish Legion volunteers the classes are smaller then most Ulpanim, making it a better atmosphere for picking up and learning Hebrew reading, writing and speaking skills.

The program is recommended for those who have made Aliyah, or are thinking about doing so in the near future. The program can also be extremely useful for volunteers who plan on attending University or any other Hebrew speaking institution in Israel in the future.

All Jewish Legion volunteers' needs are provided:

  • Kosher Lemahdrin meals are served 3 times daily, in the JL mess hall.

  • Housing in regular homes in Tapuach, similar accommodations elsewhere.

  • Laundry room provided

  • Computer room with Internet access (for communicating with relatives back home)

  • Land-line phones on site (Although cell-phones are extremely cheap to purchase or rent)

  • Financial Aid for other needs are given to volunteers monthly.

Note: Ulpan courses begin at different times during the year, and therefore one should inquire about the dates at [email protected]
