| MAJOR UPDATES (updated info has * after it) (last update on 11/3/06) Consider voting for Patrick Dinkelacker over Jim O'Reilly in the Court of Appeals race (recall that O'Reilly, who is a Wyoming City Councilman, did not want to hear from citizens through a forum or a vote). We will continue to work for representative government, fiscal responsibility, and reform of the Wyoming City Charter. Here is a review of what has transpired: Jan, 2006 - The Aquatic Center plan was unveiled at the City Council Meeting (many citizens expressed objections at the meeting) Feb, 2006 - a public forum regarding the Aquatic Center was requested; City Council denied the request Mar, 2006 - a public forum was requested AGAIN; City Council denied the request AGAIN Apr, 2006 - Concerned Wyoming Citizens presented an informal petition to Council, requesting a forum or a vote; this petition was ignored June, 2006 - Concerned Wyoming Citizens presented 2 separate Initiative Petitions to the City; the first one was declared "invalid and insufficient". The second was was accepted in format, and a public hearing was held. But the hearing took place AFTER construction had already begun on the aquatic center, making the potential vote meaningless. So CWC politely withdrew the petition. Also in June, Concerned Wyoming Citizens asked for a restraining order to stop the City from moving forward on the plan until a vote was held. THIS WAS THE ONLY RECOURSE THE CITIZENS HAD. But our City leaders did not want to hear from us or allow us to vote, so they appealed the case. ---------- Please tell your friends about this website, and send email addresses to [email protected] to add people to our mailing list.
