LOTTERY FUNDING. In March 2003 the Association was awarded a lottery-funding grant to help with the running costs inthe coming year. Some of the money was used to purchase a new Computer, Printer, Digital Camera and accessories so the Association can work efficiently.

Money will also be used for trips out that the Association is organising. One trip to Edinburgh for adults and another to the Forbidden Corner for the children. There has already been a bus trip for the children to Lightwater valley. To join in these events you need to be a member of the Association and the cost is only £1 per annum. So come on and join the Association so it can have a stronger voice to improve the area.

NEIGHBOURHOOD RENEWAL PLAN. In the past the council have been working on a Neighbourhood renewal plan for Dyke House and Jackson Wards. They held a Community Conference at the Hartlepool Historic Quay to listern and work with residents. At that meeting we were asked to look at 7 areas for improvement and these were:- Jobs; Life Long Learning and Skills; Health and Care; Community Safety; Housing and the Environment; Culture and Leisure; Strengthening Communities.

There were also councillors and key service providers there so they could gain a clear view on the issues of what the residents wanted. Since then they have also held meetings with residents groups to listern to residents views. This consultation is ongoing. LANDLORDS REGISTRATION. We are all aware that there are both good and bad landlords and most people have knowledge of the landlords doing bad business in the area. Good news is that the council has joined a pilot scheme, which is in only 5 areas of England. The scheme is called the Voluntary Landlords Registration Scheme and the council are working with resident groups to get the scheme up and running. Muriel Boreland and Eddie Hall of F.C.B. have been at the first meeting to have the ground rules sorted and form a start up group.
