Clementi – Club M is one win away from clinching their second successive League title after the dodos cruised to a 3-0 victory over Marina Boyz on Saturday. The dodos went into the match without strikers and had to rely on the midfielders to find goals. After this emphatic win, the two favourites to lift the Clementi League Trophy – DHL & Club M – will go head on in November for a mouth-watering Championship decider, with both teams neck-to-neck at the summit.
It will be a game where the winner takes it all. The dodos have been struggling to cope with 2 consecutive League games during the past weekends and their RS League title defense took another severe blow on Sunday when they could only manage a 2-2 draw against Hougang CSC yet again. But the mood in the dodos' camp is still buoyant. With the imminent return of several key players from injuries and overseas trips, the dodos look set to begin their march to the top of the RSL.
The dodos are, however, faced with a mountain to climb after dropping 4 points in their first 3 games already. Last season's main rivals, Akashi Devils, are in full throttle with maximum points so far. Newcomers El Shaddai have also made a perfect start to the season. With the DHL game pushed to November in the Clementi League, Club M can now concentrate solely on the RS League and the dodos surely have the physical and mental strength to push themselves ahead of the pack. It will be a long and very challenging road to success and the dodos must re-discover their last season's championship winning form very soon. [+]
