2004/05 - New Club Records set!
The Dodos reached new heights in 2004 as they won their first major trophy since the club was founded in 2003. Their victory in the RS League reflected the maturity of the club after a very promising maiden year in 2003. The RS League was, indeed, a great challenge for the Club as it featured competitive and strong teams; all having the burning desire to do well in the League. It was a very close fight from start to end but the turning point came with 5 games left to play for Club M as it beat its nearest rivals - Four Lions - twice to tighten its grip on the Championship. The dodos never looked back from this point onwards as they brushed aside their remaining opponents to claim the Title.
The Club recruited 6 new players in 2004 namely Vikram Goolaup, Alwyn Soh, Christopher Easton, Rishi Naiko, Mohamadally Mamode and Charles Yew, all proving their worth to the Club by their outstanding contributions throughout the RS league. However, the Club also suffered some major setbacks in 2004 with the loss of some influential players.
Among those who left the club were Anwar Musa, Derek Lim and Patrick Tsang. The dodos were also without their right-back, Kevin Chue, who sustained a long-term injury at the start of the RS League. Top marksman for Club M in 2004 was Alwyn Soh and was the third top goalscorer in the League with 17 goals.
After an oustanding year, the Club does not intend to rest on its laurels as it seeks for more challenges in the coming year. The Club's finances received a big boost at the end of 2004 after the dodos won the First Prize money in the RS League and also received some contributions from the generous sponsorship of Mr. subhas. These funds will go a long way in helping the club reach new heights in the future. As always, the Club's scouts are on the look-out for new talents to add to the team.
Club M has now set its eyes on another challenging League - The Goal Arena Football League which is to begin in the first week of June 2005. The dodos have had a great start to their pre-season preparations, winning 5 of their first 7 games and drawing the other 2. This extends the Club's undefeated run to 15 games since August 28, 2004 and thereby, breaking the previous record of longest undefeated run of 11 games achieved between May 17, 2003 and October 4, 2003.
The Club also set a new record of 9 consecutive wins between August 28, 2004 and March 5, 2005 - one better than the previous record held between May 17, 2003 and August 3, 2003. [+]
