Club M sets new record!

PUNGGOL – The dodos set a new all-time record for the Club on Sunday by thrashing Uncle United 11 – 0! This is also a new record in the RS League, beating the 10 – 0 victory of White Riders over the very same Uncle United. Before the match, the team's morale took a beating with the poor response by the players for this game. There were only 12 players responding positively to play this match.

In the end, 15 players turned up and nobody had any idea that this game would become the platform for a record victory by Club M. The dodos were, indeed, missing some of their regular players like Sandi, Dickson, Alister, Patrick Choo, Kevin Chue and Bernard.

Club M started the game on the offensive and without any surprise were 1-0 up within 5 minutes of play. Ravi was the scorer and thereby got the ball rolling for the dodos. The first half ended with Club M leading 6-0! Uncle United only managed one scoring chance in the first half when they tried to score directly from a free-kick, a few yards outside the penalty area, which was easily handled by the dodo's keeper.

The dodos played extremely well in the first half, controlling the game in every compartment and showing much greater team spirit than the previous game against Kampung Arang FC. They showed no complacency on the field and every player was highly motivated.

In the second half, the dodos found the net five times and squandered a wave of scoring chances. The dodo's keeper tried his luck upfront by replacing Jean-Marc to partner Alwyn, thinking that he could ‘outlast' the ‘uncles'. Although he had a few scoring chances, he could not find the back of the net.

Towards the end, there was a feeling of frustration in the uncles' camp and this almost resulted in a man fight between Christopher and the No. 10 of Uncle Utd. The referee was, however, fast to intervene and he handled the clash pretty well.

The scorers for the game included Alwyn (5 goals), Ravi (3 goals), Jean-Marc (1 goal), Ally (1 goal) and Djamil (1 goal). This victory is, indeed, a morale boosting one before the highly anticipated clash between the two title contenders: Club M and Four Lions. Both teams are level on points but the dodos have a much superior goal difference.

All the players enjoyed this game very much and were all happy to be part of the team that set a new all-time record victory. They proved once again that with teamwork, great things could be achieved even if it was not the strongest line-up for Club M on paper. The attitude of the players was exemplary and they all encouraged one another throughout the match. It was a game that would make the history books without doubt. Well done Club M!!!
