| December 2004 Special Days in December December 24-Christmas Eve December 25- Christmas December 31- New Years Eve Closed for vacation and holidays-December 18-Jan 3 Trainings Anger Management for Child Care Providers This training focused on the childcare provider and showed us what to do when little Johnny has you at the end of your rope. Recognizing that the childcare profession can be a very demanding and high stress job, tips were shared on what we can do to reduce stress and create a better environment for ourselves and the children we care for. Childcare providers often put others needs and wants before themselves, so we were reminded that we need to take care of ourselves. Ready to Grow This training reminded us that T.V. is a part of our childrens lives, but it gave us ideas of how to use some childrens programming as a learning tool. We were all sent home with a FREE activities to go kit! This training was fun and hands on! Professional Development A night out on West Central Child Care Connection, (WCCCC)! Childcare providers were invited for supper Tonys Old Place and development opportunities were discussed. Provider is currently enrolled in the TEACH and Great Start programs were recognized. Quality Counts Daycare Grant Wow! I was pleasantly surprised to receive $1050.00 in funding for the daycare! We will be able to purchase a majority of the items in the budget. Thank you all again for taking time out of your own busy schedules to proofread the grant narrative and to write letters of support. I am very fortunate to have parents that are encouraging and supportive when these opportunities arise! Thank you! Handbook Revisions I have been working on updating the COLOR ME HAPPY DAYCARE handbook. These changes are taking place from my experience in the business, training classes, and licensing regulations. I hope to have the revised version out soon. Themed Curriculum Fee I wanted to thank you all for adjusting so well to the fee increase for the themed curriculum. It has really worked out well and has simplified budgeting weekly for materials and supplies. Evaluations This is the time of year that I normally hand out parent evaluations. This year instead of evaluations, I will be sharing some of the quality indicators that an observer would look for during the accreditation process. I will be sharing these with you and would like you to comment and return them to me. My intentions are to print out a page a week and then at the end of the week, after you have commented or written suggestions return it with your payment and then I will send a new sheet home. This will be an ongoing process for a few months and will take some time commitment. I think it is important for us to work together on this because it will be a huge achievement. Currently there are not any accredited providers in our county. I believe there will possibly more opportunities for accredited providers, (quality counts grant), in the future and that regulations will start becoming more strict. I have attached some information about the accreditation process so you may become more familiar with it as well. I will start with the readiness tool and then move on to the accreditation packet. Reminders 5% pay increase in effect Jan 1st I am closed December 18th -Jan 2nd, a reminder to post date checks for Christmas break. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! |
