Who We Are & Where We Came From Neil, Celine & Eric
|

Like most Americans, our family background is quite diverse. We have ancestors who came to America from France, Germany, Mexico and the Canary Islands of Spain. I am attempting to trace our family lines for my son Eric, for his children, and for our nieces and nephews. I hope to someday paint a picture of the lives of our ancestors as they settled and lived in what is now the United States and maybe come to understand the reasons they left their homelands in search of something different. Neil and I left our homeland in Louisiana over 20 years ago searching for adventure and a good place to raise our son. We found both in Alaska, but our families and our roots in south Louisiana are still, and will always be, a part of who we are. The term Creole has been translated as "a child of the colonies", but Webster defines it as a person of European descent, French or Spanish, born in the West Indies or U.S. gulf states. To say you are Creole, is to acknowledge the blending of nations and cultures that are part of our heritage. Over the course of my genealogy work, I have happened across other family members who are looking for the same ancestors. In those instances, I will give credit where it is due and provide links to other web pages where possible.
