Real Reductive Lie Groups

These are the notes for some lectures I gave at the Mehta Research Institute in 1997-98. The exact form they eventually took is quite different from the plan given in Lecture I. For instance, Lec II is about SL(2,R) and not GL(2,R). One should also note that the notes contain much more material than was actually delivered during the lectures - the purpose of the notes being to free the lecturer from the constraints of rigour and completeness during the talk itself.
