Leia Organa Solo became as well known as her famous brother. While her brother Luke Skywalker restored the Jedi Knights to the New Republic, Leia made just as great of an impact on the state of the galaxy herself. First as a leader in the Rebel Alliance, then as a diplomat and finally as Chief of State of the New Republic. This former Princess from Alderaan had been a symbol of the Rebellion and New Republic for two decades.
Leia's parents were Anakin Skywalker of Tatooine and Senator Padme Amidala of Naboo. Although she claims to have a vague memory of Padme as a beautiful but sad woman, she never knew her mother as Padme died right after giving birth to Luke then her and Anakin had been defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi and had been transformed into Darth Vader. Leia along with Luke were hidden from their father so they couldn't suffer the same fate as their father. Leia was separated from her twin brother and taken to Alderaan where she was raised as a princess by Senator Bail Organa.
Like her mother Leia enjoyed the benefits of a palace education. With the finest tutors and the most advanced equipment she flourished. Bright, outspoken, and more than a little rambunctious, she was often mistaken for a domestic girl instead of a princess as she showed little of the upper-crust gentility.
Leia was exposed to as many experiences as Bail Organa could provide her. She visited Coruscant and attended Senate meetings. She also attended a Great Meet herd ceremony on Ithor. She was also encouraged to attend Alderaanian debates and palace receptions for off world personnel. Bail hired weapons master Giles Durane to teach Leia self defense when she was old enough.
While still a teenager Leia became the youngest member of the Imperial Senate. Even as she criticized Emperor Palpatine in the Senate, she secretly helped her father, Mon Mothma, and Gram Bel Iblis expand the Rebel Alliance. On one such "mercy mission" to the blockaded planet Ralltiir, she learned of the existence of the Death Star that was being secretly constructed by the Empire. The Death Star was a weapon more horrific than any weapon that had been conceived to this point.
When Rebel spies stole the plans to the Death Star Leia was at Toprawa to intercept the plans. Leia's ship the Tantive IV became marked and at Tatooine Darth Vader's Star Destroyer the Devestator intercepted the Tantive IV and captured Princess Leia. Before her capture she planted the plans into R2D2 and along with C3P0 escaped down to the planet.
Leia was brought aboard the Death Star. There she was put through various tortures but didn't reveal the location of the Rebel base. She was brought before Grand Moff Tarkin after the Death Star traveled to Alderaan. Faced with the destruction of her home she lied and said that the base was on Dantooine. Leia knew the base had long been abandoned. Despite her revealing the location Tarkin told her that Dantooine was to remote for a proper demonstration and ordered Alderaan to be destroyed with Leia watching.
She was rescued soon after by her then unrevealed brother, future husband. Leia and her rescuers then traveled to Yavin 4 where the plans for the Death Star were analyzed and when the Death Star approached the planet the Rebels attacked the Death Star and destroyed it.
The victory brought recognition throughout the galaxy as a band of freedom fighters than as guerillas. Leia took over the Alliance's diplomatic efforts and she won planets over to the alliances cause. On one such diplomatic mission, she and Luke we forced down over Mimban on their way to a meeting on Circarpous IV. They were brought down but a high energy output from an illegal Imperial mining site on Mimban. They were rescued from an imperial jail by Halla who was after a crystal that was able to enhance and increase the power of the force. Along with two Yuzzem they found the crystal and Darth Vader. Leia tried to use Luke's lightsaber to fight Darth Vader but she was quickly cast aside. Leia only knew Darth Vader as a mortal enemy not that he was her father.
Prior to the base on Hoth being established Leia spent weeks at a time away from the Rebel Alliance high command and was usually accompanied by Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Once the base was established she swore to spend less time on such distractions. Imperial stormtroopers attacked the base and forced Leia and the rest of the Rebel Alliance to evacuate the base and flee. Leia ended up with Han on the Millenium Falcon. The hyperdrive on the Falcon was broken and after flying through an asteroid field and hiding on a star destroyer they made their way to Bespin. As they traveled Leia found herself falling in love with Han and by the time they got to Bespin Leia told Han she loved him just before Han was encased in carbonite.
Rescuing Han became Leia's top priority after the Bespin. It was while searching for Bobba Fett that she began to investigate the Black Sun crime syndicate and it's charismatic leader Prince Xizor. During her investigation Prince Xizor was able to capture her. Xizor tried to seduce her also. Leia eventually was able to escape and was killed by the guns from Darth Vader's flagship. who saw Xizor as a threat and rival for the Emperor's good graces.
Leia, being a fighter, went undercover as a bounty hunter called Boushh. As part of Luke's plans to rescue Han. Leia pretends to have captured Chewbacca and infiltrates Jabba's palace. She frees Han from the carbinite but Jabba is hidden and waiting fir her. Jabba makes her one of his slave girls. She bided her time till Luke made his move at the Sarlacc pit. She takes advantage of the confusion and chokes Jabba to death with her chain that bound her.
She accompanied Han and Luke to the moon of Endor. There she goes with Luke after a stromtrooper on a speeder bike. during the chase she jumps off her bike right before it crashes. She meets an Ewok named Wicket. Wicket takes her back to his village where she is soon reunited with her companions. Luke tells her that she is his sister and with that she learned her father was Darth Vader. She helps Han disable the shield generator with the help with the help of the Ewoks.
Leia was now aware of her family and that the force was strong in her family. Maybe this was what allowed her to withstand the torture that her father Darth Vader put her through or it guided her in her career with the Alliance. Regardless she promised to follow the path of the Jedi but politics seemed to get in the way more than once.
Leia negotiated the first treat between the Alliance and the Empire, even though it was short lived at Bakura. Leia helped arrange the ceasefire between the Alliance and the Nagai. Leia nearly worked out a deal with Sate Pesage that would have given the New Republic control of Coruscant six month after the Battle of Endor. The deal was doomed by the ascension to the Imperial throne by Ysanne Isard.
Again politics frequently kept Leia away from Han. She helped plan the New Republic's strategy to take Coruscant and opened up talks with the Hapes Consortium, which were the first talks in over three thousand years.
These talks eventually led to Han and Leia's marriage. Leia was showing Hape's Prince Isolder some attention and it made Han jealous. Han kidnapped Leia and brought her to the planet Dathomir. Their love was rekindled by his far fetched plan. When they returned they exchanged vows on Coruscant. She became pregnant and the next year during the war against Grand Admiral Thrawn she gave birth to twins Jania and Jacen . It was also during this period that Leia and her family were assigned two Noghri bodyguards.
Not long after Leia had her twins the clone of Palpatine forced the New Republic to abandon Coruscant and made the Core Worlds a war zone. Leia sheltered her twins on New Alderaan. She was pregnant with a third child. It was on the space city Nespis VIII that she gave birth to her second son. She named him Anakin after her father, who she had learned to forgive.
When the Empire was once again defeated she placed all three children on the safe world of Anoth. She worked to rebuild Coruscant and she also dealt with many self-important political delegates such as Ambassador Fugan of Cardia. Her bodyguards shadowed her staying out of sight at all times. When Mon Mothma, the New Republic Chief of State , became ill and narrowly surviving the illness; she appointed Leia the new Chief of State of the New Republic.
She was ratified by popular vote and became a hands on leader. During the Darksaber crisis she negotiated with Durga the Hutt and endured a kidnapping during the Death Seed outbreak. She abandon her role after her three children were captured by the Empire Reborn movement and went undercover to rescue them. When she returned to her role she declared war on the Yevethan species during the Black Fleet crisis. She resigned temporarily as Chief of State to go after Kueller and help end his "new Rebellion".
After the Corellian insurrection Leia felt she needed a break from all the infighting in the government and took an indefinite leave of absence. even though she was on a leave of absence she still negotiated a permanent peace agreement between the New Republic and the Empire, fifteen years after she negotiated the first peace treaty with the Empire. This made Leia realize that politics is where she belonged. Two years later she was once again elected the New Republic's Chief of State.
While she attend the needs of the New Republic, her children attended the Jedi academy on Yavin 4. Four years later Leia permanently retired from politics.
Few people in the New Republic expected the retirement to last and they were right. The only thong they didn't expect was the event that would bring her back into politics. The Yuuzhan Vong invasion took the New Republic by surprise and when Borsk Fey'lya the Chief of State took to long to act to counter the threat, Leia took a more active role. She was able to convince many planets to join the fight including the Hapes Consortium. Hape's decision would prove disastrous. Leia accepted a position in SELCOR, the Senate Select Committee for Refugees, to relocate New Republic citizens displaced by the invasion.
All this kept her away from her husband who was reeling from the loss of his friend and partner Chewbacca. For over a year their marriage was strained to almost the breaking point as they rarely saw each other. But when their paths crossed on Duro they recommitted their live together.
At Duro Leia was helping SELCOR reclaim the planets polluted surface for use by the refugees. She was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong. At the hands of Warmaster Tsavong Lah, Leia was put through agony that crippled her legs so she could no longer stand. She would have been sacrificed if it was not for her son Jacen who managed to injure Tsavong Lah and helped her escape on the Falcon. She was eventually able to regain the complete use of her legs after several bacta treatments.
Over the next year she and Han helped Luke create the "Great River", a safe route for Jedi to travel in defiance of Tsavong Lah's edict calling for the Jedi's heads. Once again Leia's negotiating skills came to the front as they enlisted help from wary suppliers and partners.
When the Jedi hunting voxyn were traced to the Myrkr system, Leia reluctantly let her three children lead the Jedi strike force to destroy the voxyn threat. Through the force she felt a disturbance that was devastating. It told her that her youngest son Anakin had died in battle.
Also her oldest son Jacen was captured and her daughter Jania flirting with the dark side has pressed her hard to keep despair from taking over. Jacen eventually escaped with the help of Vergere.
Leia now finds herself in the Dark Nest Crisis. She is also taking her Jedi training more seriously.
