R2-D2

       R2-D2 hails from Naboo and his blue and white paint masks the many dents and scratches he has had over his long service. Few would even know he has been fighting the good fight longer than many of the New Republic heroes. Before Luke Skywalker was even born her had help free Naboo and still going strong a half a century later.

     This droid was manufactured by the Industrial Automation company as an R2 astromech droid. R2 began his career serving the Royal House of Naboo. techs had u\altered R2 with add-ons such as magnetized treads,  small internal repulsorlift coils and retractable booster rockets.  These rockets were designed to be used for control maneuvering  in weightlessness space. R2 discovered if he dumped all his fuel in a single sustained burn, he could overcome Naboo's gravity and fly high above the ground. Other R2 droids soon began to do this and R2 quickly earned a reputation as a troublemaker.

     He served the Royal Security Forces under King Veruna. As a plug-in counterpart for Bravo Squadron's N-1 starfighters. When King Veruna abdicated and Queen Amidala's ascension to the throne, R2 spent most of his time working onboard the Royal Starship as a maintenance and repair unit. It was during this time the Trade Federation began its blockade and Forced the Queen o flee Naboo. R2 was one of four droids that were sent out to repair the ships shield generator. As the three other droids were shredded apart by turbolaser bolts R2 stuck to his task and saved the ship. He meet C-3PO on Tatooine where the Queen's ship had to get a new hyperdrive unit. The two droids quickly struck up an instant rapport despite their dissimilar appearance and personality .

   When the Queen started the battle to take back Naboo from the Trade Federation, R2 and the 10 year old boy Anakin Skywalker flew in a N-1 starfighter and ended up in the Trade Federation's command ship hanger where they shot  the photon torpedoes that destroyed the ship thus enabling the Queen's armies and the gungan army to defeat the Trade Federation.

   Artoo remained in the service of Padame Amidala for the next 10 years including her time as Senator. He raveled back to Tatooine with Padame and Anakin and he was reunited with C-3PO  and they formed a partnership at the battle of Geonosis.

    Following the Clone Wars Artoo drifted around to several masters which often stripped off much of Artoo's RSF equipment including the booster rockets and installed other misc. equipment such as laser pointer and underwater propellers. One owner even went as far as to teach Artoo how to play  dejarik holo-chess.

   Artoo eventually along with C-3PO became property of the Royal House of Alderaan . It was during this time Princess Leia put the plans to the first Death Star into Artoo and ordered him to find Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. He succeeded in finding Obi-Wan and that led him to Yavin 4 where he was paired with Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing. During Luke's run down the Death Star's trench Darth Vader sent several laser bolts into Artoo. The Rebel techs were able to repair him though.

  For the next three years Artoo along with C-3PO  served the Rebel alliance together. After the Battle of Hoth Artoo and Luke went to Dagabah to see Jedi Master Yoda. From then on Artoo became Luke's droid almost exclusively, while C-3PO was mostly to be found with Princess Leia.

   After Luke was rescued from Bespin The Rebel Alliance had a base on the planet Arbra. Artoo helped save the Rebel fleet from burning up in Arbra's sun and volunteered to go on a mission to the unfriendly droid world of Klingson's Moon. On Coruscant , during Princess Leia's attempt to rescue Han Solo Artoo and C-3PO  piloted the Falcon in order to save their masters from imminent death at Prince Xizor's castle.

    Then Artoo served drinks on Jabba the Hutt's sailbarge as Luke Skywalker put in to action his plan to rescue Han from Jabba's clutches. Artoo kept the plan away from C-3PO as 3PO's ignorance was vital for the plan to work. Then on Endor he took another blaster bolt. He then served Luke in the years following the Battle f Endor.
