Capital Region Association for Eating Disorders
Outcome When Dieting

1. Increased focus on, and dissatisfaction with, your body shape.

2. Loss of contact with, and trust in, natural and healthy internal mechanisms for determining when you are hungry and full.

3. Increased involvement with unhealthy forms of weight measurement: crash diets, skipping meals, laxatives, compulsive exercising, diet pills and diuretics (water pills).

4. A preoccupation with food and a tendency to binge-eat.

5. Loss of control when eating carbohydrates and sugars.

6. Making oneself into an "object" at a time when males and females seek to be people, not objects.

7. Physical problems.
