  • Egypt Post History
The Post is one of the main pillars of the Country, because it conveys the Country's decrees, facilitates duties of government, establishes relations between groups, individuals and connects them with the outer world.

    Post in Pharaonic Period

First document in which the post was mentioned dates back to the 12th Dynasty Period (about 2000 BC) in a father's will to his son indicating the importance of writing and the glorious future of the writer in governmental posts. Pharaohs organized the mail conveyed internationally and domestically, they also hired rural postmen walking on foot by river Nile banks to convey domestic mail, while used the roads of caravans and armies to convey international mail.

Post in Ptolemaic and Romanian Eras

In Ptolemaic Era, post was divided into:
1- Express Mail used to convey royal and high level official mail by fast horses.
2- Slow mail used to convey mail intra employees in the country.

After the roman conquest of Egypt, mail went on same method but not as the same accuracy as it was in the Ptolemaic era till the Islamic conquest.

Post in Arab era up till the modern one

Arabs used the post to send country news and spy on rulers in favor of the Caliph and they followed the same method applied by Persians and Ptolemaics. It is said that Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan was the first one who organized the post in Islam and used specific terminals, divided into equal distance stations, in order to change horses and have food and water.

On the Arab and African levels, Egypt was among the leading Administrations involved in international postal movement, which began in Europe late in the 19th century and the beginning of the last century. Egypt is the only Arab and African country organized (involved in) the Universal Postal Congress in its 10th session in 1943.

The Post, in modern history, was originated in 1831 when some foreign countries, pursuant to their privileges, established post offices in Egypt, before it organized its Post and transformed it into a State owned Administration. England had established two offices one was in Alexandria and the other in Suez, but they were closed in 1878.

France also had established two post offices one in Alexandria and the other in Port Said, but they were closed in 1931. Austrian, Greek, Italian, and Russian post offices were established in Alexandria 1838, 1859, 1866, 1867 consequently but they met the same fate of the previous offices in 1889,1882, 1884, 1875 successively.

Modern Egyptian National Post Administration began when an Italian, living in Alexandria, called Carlo Miratti, established a postal Administration to convey and receive exchanged letters from and to foreign countries against reasonable charges. . . .

    Equatorial Guinea Dealer Directory
...a small country located in Central Africa, with an area of 28,000 square kilometres (11,000 sq mi). It has two parts, an insular and a mainland region. The insular region consists of the islands of Bioko (formerly Fernando Pó) in the Gulf of Guinea and Annobón, a small volcanic island south of the equator. Bioko Island is the northernmost part of Equatorial Guinea and is the site of the country's capital, Malabo. The island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe is located between Bioko and Annobón. The mainland region, Río Muni, is bordered by Cameroon on the north and Gabon on the south and east. It also includes several small offshore islands (such as Corisco, Elobey Grande, and Elobey Chico).

Formerly the colony of Spanish Guinea, its post-independence name evokes its location near both the equator and the Gulf of Guinea. Apart from the Spanish territories of Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla on the coast of Morocco, and Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (a.k.a. Western Sahara), it is the only country in Africa whose de jure official language is Spanish.

...Since the mid-1990s, Equatorial Guinea has become one of sub-Sahara's largest oil producers. With a population of 650,702, it is the richest country per capita in Africa... Human trafficking is a significant problem, with the US Trafficking in Persons Report, 2012, stating that "Equatorial Guinea is a source and destination for women and children subjected to forced labor and sex trafficking." The report rates Equatorial Guinea as a "Tier 3" country, the lowest (worst) ranking...

Wikipedia's Eesti Post (c.2009: needs Help!)

c.2014 reads "Omniva is an international post and logistics company based in Tallinn, Estonia, with the entire Baltic states as its domestic market. The name Omniva was adopted in June 2014; the company was previously called Eesti Post.

As of June 2014, the single brand Omniva is responsible for a number of services which were previously known by other names, such as the Post24 automatic parcel machines, ELS courier service, Kirjakeskus mail centre and eArvekeskus e-invoicing centre. Omniva still keeps the name Eesti Post for the division of the company responsible for the postal service of Estonia.

Their recent re-branding has been controversial in Estonia."

" The Faroe Islands are an island group situated between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately halfway between Great Britain and Iceland. The Faroe Islands are a constituent country of the Kingdom of Denmark, along with Denmark proper and Greenland. The Faroe Islands have been an autonomous province of the Kingdom of Denmark since 1948. Over the years, the Faroese have been granted control of many matters. Some areas still remain the responsibility of Denmark, such as military defence and foreign affairs. The Faroe Islands were politically associated with Denmark in 1380, when Norway entered the Kalmar Union with Denmark and Sweden, which gradually evolved into Danish control of the islands. This association ceased in 1814. The Faroe Islands have two representatives on the Nordic Council as members of the Danish delegation. (Source Wikipedia) " (via SEPAC)
