Christmas time is here again Shopping, crowds and rushing about. We celebrate our saviors birthday In our mind there is no doubt. Were doing it right in every way, Were doing right we know. With a fancy wrap, bright lighted trees, Eggnog and mistletoe. But wait, is this what God would want, Some Christian friends who cannot pay, They stand in line and wait. While others have all needs met, Still, others luxuriate. This God we borrowed from the Jews, Is this what he would do? If we were really to pray, my friend, I think we would learn a thing or two. We give the clothing weve outgrown, And some that is quite thread bare. We give all this with cheerful heart, In us theres no deceit. Then we turn with smiling face And ask for a tax receipt. We eat our meals and then whats left, We wish that we could share. Of course we cant, but if we could, God knows we would be fair. We celebrate the birthday of one Who died for our atone. He fed the multitude with fish and bread, When he did not have a home. We would not even go to church If we did not own a car. But remember the one we honor, He wondered near and far. Doing what we have come, To call the golden rule. Still alas, we read and find He did not even own a mule. He healed the sick and cured the blind, Things we cannot do our self and so we pay no mind. But we know that we could visit, If we only had the time. Those who are in prison, And ones who cannot see. If you did it to one off these, You did it unto me. Thats what he said so long ago, This man from Galilee. To give is sure a blessing, Friends and loved ones first. , But let us stop and read again, What he had to say. We dont include our enemies, Im sure were not to blame. But he was very quick to say That sinners do the same. Lets share with other what we have, Not just what we no longer need. Maybe just a friendly smile And a wish for them Gods speed. A helping hand, a welcome matt, perhaps your favorite food. We should not worry about replacement, For what we give today. For we should always remember, Its all Gods anyway.
