If You could go back in time, For a day or two, Have You ever given any thought, To what You would do. If You should end up in fourty-one, You would sure be in a whirl. Trying to convince the Navy, To get the big ships out of Pearl. Or if News Years day of fifty-three, You happen to be back, Would You tell old Hank, Not to go to sleep in the back of the Cadillac. If we know about them, There's somethings We couldn't fix. I wonder could I have saved my Brother, Who died in fifty six. If You should end up in 1963, Would you try to give a warning, To John F. Kennedy. When no one would listen, Try to get a closer look, You would need to be real careful, That You were not misstook. While sitting on the grassy Knoll, After the shooting is done, Some Government Man might tap You on the arm, And say, "Hey, is that your gun". Would You simply stamer and stumble and look down at your feet. Or would You tell him about Lee Harvey, Just across the street. About Martin Luther, As strange as it may seem, I think I would listen a little closer, When He said He had a dream. Would You try to tell Old Nixon, Before it was too late, Not to let his agents, Go into Watergate. Perhaps We should do nothing, Anything We do might be a curse, By trying to make things better, We might just make them worse.
