Jay Vidar was born in a small town on the banks of the Dahr'Shi River. Not much is known about this period of his life, except that during it he began dating Kit Ymir, a relationship that would last until the disbanding of Saturn Flight.
His brother, Josh Vidar, left home to join the Human Republic, and Jay soon followed after. Due mostly to his incredible aim, Jay was selected to be part of the Saturn Flight project, and spent a year as a Wingman, when Commander Deuce Arcturus was gunned down, making Jay the new Wing Commander.

When Kukahn Ahlohstahr shut down the Saturn Flight team, Jay took the rest of the team to the Remnant. There, with the help of Mahrihkihrah and Kit, he staged a raid of the station holding the Saturns. During the course of the mission, the plan was compromised, and the station was destroyed to provide cover for an escape. Jay was shot down while acting as a diversion, and was found by Jolee.

Jolee stayed with Jay to help him recover, resulting in her being the only survivor of the attack on her village staged that night by a Gorilla Battle Suit in pursuit of Jay. When they came across it the next day, Jay made it his obligation to care for the girl and offered her the Remnant's protection. Before she answered, Second Genesis troops investigating the scene captured the pair and put them in prison. Jay and Jolee
managed to escape from the prison, with the help of Shiorah Ahlohstahr, and they returned home.

Since then, Jay has been reunited with his brother, Josh, on very uneasy terms. He's also shown withdraw symptoms from a possible substance addiction, causing him to search desperately for the things that used to make him happy, most notibly Saturn Flight and Jolee, who he believes is more than she lets on.
