The Road To Hell
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
With their city in the hands of the Camarilla, a newly appointed Archbishop, and the constant threat of the Lupines, the Sabbat of Maiden Newton were facing grim times. Cardinal Luis representative for the Temple, a Toreador antitribu named Gynander, arrived, but seemed of little help to the current situation. Archbishop Fortesque decided that the best way of reclaiming the city would be to destroy the enemy leader outright: the Tremere Archon, Drex, who was the mastermind behind the Camarillas seizure of Maiden Newton. After a fierce battle, Drex was vanquished; however, despite the Sabbat having moved back into the city, it was still contested by the Camarilla.
   A new Temple, in Maurix Square, was sanctified by ritual, led by Archbishop Fortesque, and then, with refreshed thoughts of victory in their lifeless hearts, the Cainites stormed the Cistus Theatre, where the new Camarilla Prince of Maiden Newton was being initiated. The result was a triumph for Fortesque and his minions, and the Camarilla were finally driven back out of the city. Returning to their new Temple, a terrible earthquake struck the city and this was to be the first of many. Bishops
Fi and Solo returned from their own assignments, having been badly beaten by a group of unknown creatures. It was becoming clear that some powerful force was rising in the city.
   Believing the earthquakes and the attacks by the strange, indestructible entities which were getting more frequent Fortesque ordered the entire Temple to descend beneath the city, beneath the sewers, once more into the lair of
Kraken. Here they faced many traps and perilous encounters, but they found nothing to suggest what was happening in Maiden Newton. Following this, with no real reason or explanation, Gynander announced that his task was complete, and that Archbishop Fortesque had proved his worth as a Sabbat leader. The Toreador antitribu left the city that night.
   The Police force of the city now became the new target of Sir Daniel Fortesque and his Temple, along with its newest member, the Malkavian
antitribu, Luthor Delane. It had become apparent that a large proportion of the citys police were not mortal, but psychotic Lupines, with various biotechnical appendages and enhancements. Fortesque had come by the information that these enhancements were the doing of a local cybernetics company, Barry Smithfield Dynamics, and so the Temple were sent to eliminate the company and all its labs, which they accomplished, after first facing the Police Chief, which turned out to be an Abomination. On returning to the Temple, Shadow was possessed by one of the demonic entities that had been causing recent trouble for the city. Shadow attacked several of his fellow Cainites, but was beaten by the Archbishop, but not killed. Consequently, Shadow was exiled from the city.
   Meanwhile, the earthquakes and the demonic entity attacks were increasing. Rumours were being spread that there was a gathering of these entities in the Le Petit Canard Theatre, and hence the Cainites were
despatched to destroy them as difficult a task as it sounded. Although they mostly failed in this task, they did, while there, learn that the creatures were the production of a powerful Tzimisce elder, Ronald le Couronne Krakens sire.
   While Luthors Pack the Pack of The Gods That Dress Like Santa And Collect Heads And Carry Them Over Their Shoulders And Attempt Not To Pay For Videos But Pay For Them In The End had a brief spell cloud-hopping in Pebblonia, the domain of the Pebbles, the other Pack the Pack of the White Van stole a fetish, the Black Gem, from
KrTrth, and as vengeance, KrTrth went mad, killed all of his retainers for failing to protect his possessions, and then took Frank as payment. Frank was swiftly killed; his Pack found him in KrTrths oven, roasted into ash.
   The Giovanni sent an emissary,
Benito Giovanni, to the city, to track down Gynander, who had apparently done something to the detriment of the Family. While in the city, Benito accompanied the Temple back down into Krakens labyrinth, where the Sabbat Cainites encountered Ronald le Couronne himself. The encounter was brief, and deadly, but they managed to escape. Benito left the city, apparently satisfied with whatever it was that he had accomplished or found out.
   Things began coming to a head when Ronald sent a demonic entity to the Temple, with an ultimatum leave the city or die. Unanimously, the entire Temple decided that they would not respond kindly to threats, and resolved to destroy their enemy instead. Their chance would come sooner than they thought after this decision had been made, they all blacked out and awoke in Ronalds own labyrinthine haven beneath that of Kraken. The Bishops and Archbishop Fortesque were not with them however, although after a short while, the Bishops escaped their own captivity and found the rest of the Cainites, and the search for Fortesque began. After a long search, during which they encountered more of the demonic entities, they found their Archbishop but also found Ronald once again.
   A narrow stone bridge, leading across a great chasm of molten lava, lay between the Sabbat and Ronald, who sat atop a great throne, in front of a pair of large and foreboding black gates. On either side of Ronald were two great, fearsome Vozhds, who attacked the Sabbat across the bridge on Ronalds command. The battle against these hulking monstrosities was tough, but both were eventually defeated by being knocked from the bridge into the lava beneath. This gave inspiration to how the Sabbat could defeat their nemesis in the same manner, if they could get him onto the bridge. This part was indeed easy, since Ronald crossed the bridge of his own accord, but the intruders had not reckoned on Ronalds power. One by one, the Sabbat fell into Torpor as Ronald beat them back with ease, until only
Faye the Fairy was left: the citys last chance. With great effort, Faye finally succeeded in overbalancing Ronald, causing him to plunge to his molten doom. But as he fell, he screamed with such force that Faye fell into Torpor, alongside all of her companions. And as she did, the black gates opened
