Gynander
(Jonathan)
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Toreador antitribu. Gynander represents both extremes of the Sabbat; on one hand it is the embodiment of perverted depravity, a walking Victorian nightmare of malevolent and freakish evil, while on the other, it is a graceful outstanding of etiquette and civilised grandeur. Gynander, made genderless long ago by the Tzimisce it was created as a gift for, is an agent of the Black Hand, serving Cardinal Luis primarily, but answerable to the leaders of the Sabbat all across the globe.

Gynander was born, raised and Embraced at the height of the Victorian Gothic era, and, due mostly to more than a century of Torpor, has never fully grasped the modern world as it is today. Still, this allows it a great deal of impartialty when dealing with situations it is ordered to investigate.

The most truly bizarre thing happened to Gynander in February of 2002; having not experienced any emotions in all of its existence as a Cainite, Gynander was highly curious when it felt the first and only spark of emotion in its cold heart, after seeing for the first time the City Gangrel,
Paige 189, in Cambridge. Gynander had been ordered to investigate Page on suspicion of betraying the Sabbat, but, taken with the feelings it was experiencing, Gynander found a scapegoat and abandoned its investiation. It left Cambridge, believing it best to never lay eyes on the bewitching Cainite again. However, this was not to be so.

Gynander was ordered, eight months later, to the city of Maiden Newton, by Cardinal Luis, who wanted an observer to report back on the competency of its new Archbishop,
Sir Daniel Fortesque, as well as any other events of significance. Gynander was of course a little surprised to find Paige in the city, but tried to stay away from her. However, its cold feelings for her were so apparent, Gynander once again cut short its assignment, declaring Fortesque to have the city in good hands, and returned to Luis in France for its next assignment, vowing to not set foot in Maiden Newton ever again.

However, as always happens in unlife, Gynander's wishes were not to be fulfilled. Again, some eight months or so later, Cardinal
Gynander soon regretted agreeing to a night out on the town with FredSamJimBob
Drad - Luis' replacement after his murder at the hands of London - ordered Gynander to return to the city, which it has done, bringing with it knowledge of a bizarre ritual that was successfully performed on the baby Hope, protecting her from all harm and thus stalling the Armageddon Prophecy for the next seventeen and a half years.

Gynander was able to help the Temple again the following week, by performing a highly experimental ritual, inserting Bishops
Zy and Tomsk into Points mind, where they were able to find and destroy the demonic force, Morgoth, that had infiltrated Points mind, thus freeing the City Gangrel from its malevolent influences.

After the Alliance destroyed London, Gynander was given new instructions by Drad now Regent of the Sabbat. The Toreador
antitribu presented the Alliance with news that Drad had granted the city of Maiden Newton independent status, and was now offering a non-interference treaty for the Alliance. This treaty stated that the Sabbat would not interfere in any way with the city or its Alliance, so long as the reverse also held true. The treaty was signed, and Gynander left the city.

Inside Information: Gynander, named for the genderless orchid, was my attempt at playing something as far removed from humanity as I could, as a simple acting experiment. Still, introducing the solitary emotion aspect gave Gynander a tragic side that I thought was extremely fun and rewarding to play.
