Lacer was seen in a dream by Ari'Seleara and Shakaku, raising a woman to life by cutting himself violently at the Resurrection Altar in the Sea of Sands. Once the woman (calling herself Letum Uxor) was raised, she killed Lacer and brought him back as well.
It was this dream that lead the group to resurrecting Ari'Seleara at the Altar.
In Boxcar, it was revealed the Lacer was actually Ari'Seleara's late husband, Alex Dent. Before the Bale killed him, it fed from him - and he turned before the Bale could finish him off.
It was he who killed the Bale responsible for the deaths of Ari's family - and he who would later find Viscera and eventually raise Letum Uxor and become Lacer. Ari killed him outside of Boxcar, finally putting him at rest.
