The classroom teacher, the teacher aides, and the entire school staff are here to help you, the student.  Roosevelt Alternative School ensures that each faculty and staff member is highly qualified to work with students who benefit from an non-traditional educational program.  Each teacher is required to maintain their certification for their particular teaching assignment.  The campus counselor is a Licensed Professional Counselor and certified in specialized areas of counseling that serve our students.  To ensure high performance teaching and learning, Roosevelt Alternative School uses a comprehensive performance management system which addresses individual goal-setting, related assessment measures and continuous professional development.  We will guide you, the student, we will encourage you, the student, and we will provide you with the necessary opportunity to be successful.  You will be expected to make a sincere effort to all educational and social skill assignments that are given to you.  Bi-weekly progress reports will be provided to the parents.  The progress report must be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher.

Mr. Charles Floodine, our Social Studies teacher brings 28 years of experience to Roosevelt Alternative School.  He says, "My students are working in a portfolio format at their own pace.  While I follow the home campus timelines I often find the students further ahead in the curriculum than the timelines call for thanks to the portfolio format."

Mr. Jorge Garza, our principal, brings many years of experience to his position.  Not only does he have experience in education but also in the armed services and law in-forcement.  He states, "The feeling that we have established a viable, and effective program is found throughout the entire district and community.  I believe we have one of the best Alternative Programs in the state."

Mr. Bill Britt, is our Science teacher and technology advisor.  He was Mission CISD's teacher of the year for the year 2000 and was nominated for the University of Texas Teacher's Excellence Award, (only 178 teachers in the state were selected for this honor).  He is responsible for all forms of Science curriculum and oversees the care and upkeep of all the computers and software on campus.  He is also our Academic Team leader.  Mr. Britt states, "The programs we have installed here at Roosevelt Alternative School is definitely a step in the right direction.  The behavior management programs along with our computer instruction will ensure our students will get the very best instruction while here at RAS.  No one can say that our students are lacking in an opportunity to learn."
