During a day long in-service the entire staff of Roosevelt
Alternative School worked together to create a Campus Collaboration Contract
that spells out the behavior expected as professionals in our work
environment. Once the contract was completed each staff member signed the
contract. This contract is a vital tool for having a happy and secure
workplace.

In our quest to create a work environment that promotes success of all,
we must ensure an atmosphere where there is a total commitment to each
other. This commitment includes respect, honesty, compassion, kindness,
and empathy in all daily encounters. As personal agendas are set aside, a
greater agenda of serving others is taken through our non-judgmental, open,
supportive, dignified and professional behaviors with each other.
It is our belief that people want to be cared for and treated with dignity,
fairness, and trust. Through our patience we will realize that our
perception of an ideal work place will become reality. We must model what
we say and believe in all interactions with the group leader and each
other. A positive demeanor, including facial expressions, intonation and
body language along with all verbal expressions will produce the desired effect
of our contract. In conclusion, all dissemination of information must be
handled in the above manner.
The second aspect of our contract deals with the handling of problems that may
occur amongst staff. First, and foremost it is agreed that all questions
need to be dealt with in confidentiality and any concern that arises be dealt
with immediately. As the process of direct communication is utilized, all
encounters must be non-confrontational and all feedback constructive.
Finally, once problems have been addressed, processing time is required to solve
any remaining difficulty that may exist.
