QVSC Fun Day At Mission Ridge
Athletes, parents, coaches, snowboarders, skiers, old and young all came together at Mission Ridge to wrap up the on-snow part of this year's program.  The whole day was based on having FUN, FUN, FUN!
The day started with whoever wanted to take part registering and being placed on a team.  These teams then took part in tug-o-wars and also had relay races in which they had to tow someone up the hill and back.  Various items were placed all over the hill and then the teams were sent out for a scavenger hunt.  It was amazing to see some of the weird and wonderful objects that were turned in!  There was a dual race course set on the bunny hill for everyone to be able to challenge whoever they wanted to a race.  It was great to see some parents out there willing to get beat by their children!  Perhaps these parents also got a bit of a feel for what their children are doing when they are racing.  Finally, everyone was treated to a drink and hot dogs as well as receiving a goody package.

Some QVSC moms showing their racing form - now we know where the children get their competitive spirit!

I think I can beat coach John ........................................................................ YES!!!

Even the youngest skiers can beat an oooooold snowboarder - especially their dad!

QVSC Sends Three To Alberta's K1 Championships
Three members of QVSC's Alpine Race Team were among those K1 athletes selected to represent Saskatchewan at the Alberta K1 Championships.  Gustav Dippenaar, Yolandi Lombard and Brittany Mooney traveled to Alberta to participate in this event at Marmot Basin near Jasper.  These three raced in two Giant Slalom and one Slalom race among a huge field of competitors.  Yolandi had her best result in the slalom where she placed 10th out of 91 racers.  Both Brittany and Gustav managed to get their best result in GS, with Brittany placing 26th of 91 while Gustav placed 23rd among 71 competitors.  Excellent job to all three, you should all be very proud of yourselves!

More QVSC Juveniles Represent Saskatchewan
Three other K2 athletes from QVSC were chosen to represent Saskatchewan at a post season event.  Named at the Sask Alpine banquet as part of the team going to the Western Canadian Juvenile Championships were QVSC athletes, Aaron Fenwick, Natasja Lombard and Kristen Solvey.  A heavy snowfall caused some scheduling and event changes, so the Saskatchewan contingent took part in only one slalom and one GS race.  Although they did not race as much as anticipated the team had a great time getting in some good powder skiing!
Among a field that included 53 male and 53 female competitors Aaron managed a 14th place finish in the Giant Slalom while Natasja had her best result in slalom, placing 12th.  Unfortunately, Kristen did not manage to finish either race.  It should be noted that in the men's slalom race Aaron had the 5th best second run time after encountering some problems in the first run.  QVSC is proud of all three!
