J4's Compete In Finals
Three of QVSC's J4 (9 & 10 year olds) athletes traveled to Big
River to compete in the Provincial J4 Finals at Timber Ridge Ski Area.
John McNally coached Walter Dippenaar, Jocelyn Demaer and Michael
Davidson to some very impressive results. Both Walter and Jocelyn
earned SILVER
medals and Michael gained a lot of experience after each competitor had two runs
in the morning and two more in the afternoon. Results are determined by
totaling the racers best morning and best afternoon time. Congratulations
to all three and thank you for so ably representing Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club.

Timber Ridge Site For Nancy Greene Ski League Final
QVSC was unable to
field a complete team for this event, however, we did have some excellent skiers
there proudly representing our club. Alwein and Walter
Dippenaar, Michael Davidson and Brandon Walker raced very well in
this year end event for the Nancy Greene Ski League. Although our numbers
were small our athletes had a lot of fun under the coaching of John McNally and
we all hope that next year we will be able to put together a complete
team. Thanks to those who took the time to make the long trip to Big River
and gave their children an opportunity to compete.

QVSC Competes In Manitoba Finals
Seven juveniles and five juniors of the QVSC Alpine Race Team
competed in two days of racing that were part of the Manitoba Ski Associations

Sunday. These events were held at Asessippi Winter Park and were hosted by
the Asessippi Ski and Board Club and the Springhill Ski Racing Club. Our

races which are open to any carded athlete 15 years and older. Our team
was once again led by our K1 girls who managed to sweep theK1 medals each

Brady Achtymichuk and Kara Delaney represented
Saskatchewan and QVSC at the Canadian Juvenile Alpine Ski Championships held at
Panorama, B.C. Both athletes are members of Saskatchewan's Juvenile Ski
Team and were coached at this event by Dave Honeyman, Sask.'s Head Coach.
Brady had a fantastic result in Super G, placing in seventh place among a field
of eighty-two of Canada's best juvenile racers. Kara's best result came in
slalom where she placed a very respectable 31st out of 66 competitors. All
of QVSC is very proud of you both!

Skill Awards Presented At Annual Banquet
QVSC held its' annual pot luck banquet at the Legion Hall again this
year and once again it was a fantastic feast! QVSC's president, Calvin
Reed was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. He gave an overview of
the past season and extended appreciation to the athletes, coaches, parents and
the sponsors. Tom McDougall gave a report on the Nancy Greene Ski and
Snowboard League and Kirk Cochrane gave the Head Coaches report where he
commended the coaches for the good job they did this year.
John McNally, the Saturday coordinating coach, introduced the N.G.S.L. coaches
and they presented the members of the Nancy Greene Ski/Snowboard League their
levels in the new Snow Stars program. This skill development program has
replaced the old Skill Awards program to reflect the changes in skiing since the
old program was implemented. Danny Ottenbreit presented the Nancy Greene
Ski League athletes with "team" gloves donated by the Grenfell
Co-op. Members of the Development Team were recognized for their
contribution to the overall club title and were called up to share in the photo
ops of the team with a special cake made to mark the eighth straight QVSC Sask
Cup Club Championship.
