QVSC Plus Program Trains At Asessippi
Several athletes from the QVSC Alpine Race Team traveled to Roblin, Manitoba, accompanied by coach Kirk Cochrane for a weekend of GS training at Asessippi Ski Area.  This training was offered to those athletes wishing to get a bit more training than the regular QVSC program in preparation for the upcoming Sask Cup Race Series giant slalom races at Ochapowace Ski Area.  Once again Asessippi was most accommodating to us and we managed to get quality and quantity training.

Speed Camp Participants Dominate Ochap GS Races
Ochapowace Ski Area was the location for the second set of Sask Cup Giant Slalom racing.  A lack of snow forced the race off the usual Waterfall run onto a run that what quite flat and narrow in spots.  This, along with a strong wind blowing up the hill made for a race that favoured those who had the best tuck and good gliding skills.  Several competitors had just returned from speed camps in the mountains and once the results came up it became apparent that the speed training definitely benefited them for this weekend.

Brady Achtymichuk and Kara Delaney, members of the Sask Juvenile Team and QVSC were among those fresh from speed training and they led the way for our club by earning GOLD both days.  Another QVSC K2 athlete did very well at these races, Aaron Fenwick (pictured right) who picked up the men's K2 SILVER medal each day.  Following are the medal and ribbon winners from QVSC:
