The Call of the Salty Breeze by heyday

Oh dear lady, are you so afraid to take the chance

to find out if I might be that charming prince?

The one you’ve sought all these many years;

The seeking which brought you so many tears?

Yet you see me superficially, never looking deep

and dismiss me as just another dishonest creep.

Judge me not my words, my most sweet lady dear

but look instead at my actions, and you’ll not fear.

For you see, I’m here for you in the littlest of things;

To share with you those hidden verses the minstrel sings.

That which makes your weary heart once again light;

to make your jaded eyes sparkle in a special delight.

So, toss me not away with the others abandoned through time.

Consider this not just a meaningless poem, an artificial rhyme;

see instead the sincerity that lays here in me, deeply within.

Give me a chance my dear, to make you feel like a woman again.

Allow me to sail with you on splendid seas, enchanted waters they be;

so that the salty wind knows us, the two of us so content and free.

May we drift with the currents, going where we want to go;

knowing a love with each other that will forever blossom and grow.

And though we might see turbulence and tumultuous waves in our sailing;

we will know that we shall overcome, never knowing the thought of failing.

For in an older age we will be together still, remembering islands we traversed;

even as we continue unselfishly to put each others dreams and desires first

Oh, lady of my dreams, the jewel in my appreciative eye;

listen to me please, I tell you no falsehood, I speak no lie.

Shed away my gruff exterior , see what is hidden so deep;

wanting to blossom and bloom, to awake from it’s sleep.

Needing but you to make it arouse from it’s slumbering dream;

and rise to the surface and shine forth like the a new sunbeam.

To warm you always, to comfort you, to caress and hold you proper, and right;

to shine on you in special ways, taking away your dimness, making you bright.

The salty breeze calls even now, whispering our names;

In a voyage ever splendid, free from heartless mind games.

Shall we sail together now, knowing the warm seas?

Or shall you go without me now, caring not if we both freeze?
