We moved from Northern California to Denmark in October 1999. Here's the Top 10 things we said we'd miss about the living in the U.S.A.:

10. No more sugar-coated, vitamin-enriched, preservative-drenched tasty treats molded into the shapes of mice heads.

9. The thrill is gone. Denmark has no spiders, snakes, bees or other venomous creatures for us to hunt .. only slow-fluttering butterflies and sweet-chirping underweighted birds.

8. Forget the lazy days watching the early morning fog roll out as the midday smog rolls in.

7. No continuous debates on daytime TV regarding a U.S. study indicating cats are superior to dogs.

6. No more hot, sweltering, whisker-drooping summer days.

5. Good luck finding any DK grocery store aisle with flashy displays of two dozen varieties of kitty litter and 36 brands of soft food.

4. No more fish with three eyes and two tails that occasionally swim up the creeks from the San Francisco Bay.

3. No more Meow Mix commercials in a language we can understand ("Meow meow
meow meow ... meow meow meow meow ... meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow" will turn into "miau miau miau miau, etc.").

2. No more pint-sized mice. We're sure they call mice mus - say "moose" - in Denmark for a reason.

1. We'll miss our great-tasting drinking water and the special qualities brought to it by the additives of arsenic, asbestos, barium, beryllium, cyanide, flouride, lead, mercury, benzene ....  not to mention the polycholorinated biphenyls and tetrachloroethylene.
