The Scorpion was sent by Greek Goddess Artemis to kill Orion according to the Greek mythology. Orion was a beautiful giant neither mortal nor immortal but an in between due to his parentage. Arrogant and boastful, he incurred the fiery wrath of Artemis and thus had to pay a dear price for it - he was stung and killed by the Scorpion. Artemis honoured the Scorpion for doing her bidding by placing it in the sky. Orion was also placed in the skies as his unusual parentage did not allow him to go to Hades.

From the little mythology above, it is obvious how vicious and powerful the Scorpion is and this also holds true for its symbolized sign, the Scorpio.

With endless courage and confidence, Scorpio perhaps has the most intense personality in the zodiac. Born with an iron will, you can be assured that the ambitious Scorpio will do anything to achieve her goals. A passionate individual, Scorpio is fiercely faithful to friends and loved ones.

Great care must be taken not to anger the resentful Scorpio as "forgive and forget" is not her motto in life. If you are nice to her, she will be equally, if not more, pleasant. On the other hand, if you are nasty to her, she will find means and ways to pay you back, twice. Shrewd and blunt, Scorpio can be too harsh with her words at times.

Although arrogant and rebellious, Scorpio can be caring and friendly as well, if they want to that is. She is surprisingly sensitive and emotional beneath her aggressive surface. A word of advice: do not try to fool Scorpio as her intuitive nature allows her to see through deception of any kind.
