Half
man half horse, the centaur Chiron was well known
for his great wisdom and kindness. Unlike the
other centaurs in Greek mythology, Chiron was
gentle and caring and nurtured many Greek heroes
like Jason and Achilles. Hercules accidentally
shot Chiron with his poison arrow one day which
left the centaur in great pain. However being
an immortal, Chiron could not die but neither
could he heal himself. Thus Chiron decided to
trade places with Prometheus who was punished
by the Greek Gods for giving man fire. Chiron
was thus made a mortal and was punished in Prometheus'
place and when Chiron died, the Gods honoured
him by placing him in the sky.
In many ways, Sagittarius is like Chiron. Intelligent
and independent, the Archer works hard to fulfil
his goals. He is just and honest and simply hates
deception of any kind. Generous and good-humoured,
there is no doubt that Sagittarius is popular
amongst his peers though his sharp bluntness may
cause unintended hurt to those around him.
The Archer loves his freedom more than anything
else in the world. He is deeply religious and
philosophical and is often deep in thought. An
enthusiastic and jovial individual, Sagittarius
loves to travel and explore endless boundaries
while absorbing new knowledge and information
with an open mind.
The naïve Sagittarius may become quite superficial
and careless. He has impulsive tendencies and
may frequently change his decisions and interests
just because he "feels like it". He
gets restless very easily and suffers from erratic
mood swings.
